The Gibson Les Paul is a guitar that speaks for itself. Whether in the hands of an able bluesman, a metal shredder, or a pop strummer, the Les Paul has a sound and image of pure attitude and power. The Les Paul Studio is no exception, delivering classic Les Paul sound and style in an affordable and streamlined package. With this release, Gibson has updated the Studio with enhanced body chambering and an ultra-comfortable granadillo fingerboard, as well as the versatile power of split coil humbucker pickups. As Gibson luthier Jim DeCola phrased it: "This is more of a working musician's instrument. It still has the feel and sound of the classic Les Paul, but the hotter pickups lend themselves to some of the more modern musical styles. Since it doesn't have binding and a figured top, it's more affordable but the sound and performance are still there".

Classic Les Paul Tone with Coil Tapping

A solid mahogany body, maple cap, and set-neck construction all contribute to the classic sound of the Les Paul Studio. The pickups are capable of dishing copious amounts of tone, thanks to the alnico magnets in the 490R and 498T pickups found in the neck and bridge positions respectively. With the 2012 Les Paul Studio, Gibson has added coil-splitting electronics to the equation for even more robust tonal capabilities. Not only do you get that fat punch of a humbucker, the split coil pickups allow you to dial-in the bright, ringing tones of a single-coil by way of a push/pull switch read more built-in to both volume knobs. The dual tone controls, coil-splitting switches, and three-way pickup selector allow seamless shifting between a wide array of tones, and when both pickups are set in the single-coil setting, the guitar remains fully hum-canceling. The rich palette of classic Les Paul tones makes this a great guitar for recording -- hence the word "Studio" in the title. When both pickups are set in the single-coil setting, the guitar remains fully hum-cancelling.

Comfortable Feel and Manageable Weight

Like some of the highest-end Custom Shop models, the Les Paul Studio has a chambered body. Not only do these precision-tuned chambers improve resonance, they also substantially cut down on the weight. If you're grinding out four or five sets a night on the club circuit, this is especially welcome news. The adjustable truss rod, tune-o-matic bridge, and precision Kluson-style tuning machines let you set it up to perfection, so the feel is as sweet as the tone. The neck uses the popular '60s slim taper profile and is capped with a smooth granadillo fingerboard.

Features:

- Carved maple cap on a mahogany body in classic Les Paul configuration
- '60s slim taper mahogany neck with 22 frets and 24 and 3/4-inch scale length
- Comfortable granadillo fingerboard
- 490R and 498T split coil humbuckers for classic Les Paul sound with added coil-tapping versatility
- Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece
- Included hardshell case

For a simple, elegant, and bold-sounding Les Paul option, the Les Paul Studio is a hard model to overlook. Featuring all the best in classic Gibson construction with key updates like coil-tapping electronics, the Les Paul Studio is an outstanding contemporary Les Paul.

Gibson Les Paul Studio Guitar

Crucial elements of the Les Paul Studio's design include the carved maple top and mahogany body, glued-in mahogany neck with back-angled headstock, granadillo fingerboard, 'Tune-o-matic' bridge and stopbar tailpiece - all design points that have been making Les Pauls the most desirable tone monsters available since the late 1950s. For electronics, a set of Gibson's 498T and 490R Alnico humbucking split pickups with coil tapping squeeze every drop of tone from the instrument.

With these classic ingredients, the Les Paul Studio gives you all the sonic versatility you could ask for, from sultry, warm bluesy tones to powerful crunch to sizzling lead tones. Finally, the Les Paul Studio is supremely playable too, thanks to its 60's slim profile neck profile and a chambered mahogany body that reduces the weight while enhancing resonance, making it outstandingly comfortable strapped on or seated. All this, and your Les Paul Studio comes protected in a formfitting Gibson hardshell case, and covered by Gibson's famous Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 customer service. It could just be the bargain of the decade... or the past three.
