Learn more about the Gibson 2014 Les Paul Studio Pro:

Lightweight Body with a Heavy Sound

Known for their mahogany resounding bodies, Les Paul guitars can often be on the heavier side in terms of weight. Gibson designed the 2014 Les Paul Studio Pro with your comfort in mind, while maintaining the classic original Les Paul image and tone. The maple-topped mahogany body is built with lighter weight chambering, relieving some of the load without sacrificing the darkness or resonance. Whether you're in for a long session in the studio or a night of performing on stage, you'll experience all that this Les Paul has to offer without sacrificing your back.

Slim Taper Neck with Width-to-Thickness Ratio

Great for the guitarist who loves playing lead, the '60s-styled slim taper neck allows for quick and slick playing up and down its 22 frets. You'll never feel restricted or constrained during fast runs, and as you move down the smooth rosewood fretboard, the neck will ease speedy playing with its width-to-thickness ratio, offering optimization of movement while reducing instances of fatigue. You'll be able to play comfortably until your fingers fall off.

PAF Styled '57 Classic and BurstBucker Pro Pickups

You'll hear Gibson's instantly recognizable PAF crunch with the '57 Classic neck pickup. This pickup will resonate your playing throughout the mahogany body with the dark and heavy rock sound you'd expect from a Les Paul. In addition, the BurstBucker Pro pickup at the bridge offers a more modern sound with the versatility of lows and highs. Also, you have two volume knobs with push-pull coil taps for coil splitting. Whether you want a biting dirty lead, a sparkly and bright clean sound, or a dark bluesy tone, the combination of these two pickups and the use of the Les Paul Studio Pro's dual tone knobs, dual volume knobs, push-pull coil taps will never leave you short of sonic options.

Features:

- Maple-topped mahogany body with lightweight chambering
- Slim taper neck and compound-radius rosewood fretboard for comfortable fingering
- '57 Classic neck and BurstBucker Pro bridge humbuckers for dynamic sound
- Dual push-pull coil splitting volume knobs and dual tone knobs
- 12th fret inlay celebrating Gibson's 120th anniversary
- Three-setting pickup selector
- Chrome Tune-o-Matic bridge
- Vintage hardshell case included
- Larger strap buttons for greater strap security

Remember that you're playing a Gibson Les Paul. Its image and sound are recognized all over the world, and in addition to this model's lighter weight mahogany body, '57 Classic and BurstBucker Pro pickups, push-pull volume knobs, and comfortable slim taper neck, you'll also have Gibson's 120-year reputation on your side. That's all great news -- because you'll be holding onto this guitar for a long time.

Product Description

To celebrate the 120th Anniversary of the world's most respected guitar maker, Gibson USA is unveiling a whole lineup of Les Pauls that offer unbeatable value in hand-made American electric guitars. The Studio line has been a major favorite with hard-working players since its introduction in 1983; now for 2014 Gibson brings you the Les Paul Studio Pro, a marriage of traditional tone and modern versatility, and one of the best deals in a pro-grade electric guitar that the world has ever seen.

Made with select traditional tonewoods and two of Gibson's best PAF-style humbucking pickups--a 57 Classic and a BurstBucker Pro--the Les Paul Studio 2014 effortlessly nails that legendary Les Paul tone, while push-pull coil splitting and Orange Drop tone caps make it supremely versatile, too. Further 2014 120th Anniversary additions include larger no-slip strap buttons, black Max Grip Speed Knobs, a GraphTech nut, long-life proprietary coated guitar strings, cryogenic treated fret wire for longer life and corrosion resistance, a full PLEK setup, and a 120th Anniversary logo inlay at the 12th fret.

Body and Neck

The Les Paul Studio Pro 2014 is crafted in the image of the original Les Paul Standard. It's made from a solid mahogany back with modern weight relief for enhanced resonance and a lighter strapped-on feel, with a carved Grade-AA figured maple top. Its glued-in mahogany neck features a '60s Slim Taper profile, a rosewood fingerboard with 22 cryogenic treated frets for long life and resistance to corrosion, traditional trapezoid inlays, and a commemorative 120th Anniversary inlay at the 12th fret.

Pickups and Electronics

The guitar carries a pair of Gibson's legendary 57 Classic and BurstBucker Pro humbucking pickups in the neck and bridge positions respectively. These pickups are crafted in the image of the original PAFs with genuine Alnico magnets, but updated for the requirements of contemporary music. They're wired through the traditional complement of independent volume and tone controls and a three-way selector switch, but updated with coil-split switching and Orange Drop tone capacitors.

Hardware

Upgraded Grover kidney-button tuners join a chrome Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece for outstanding resonance and sustain, while enlarged strap buttons keep your guitar secure throughout the set. A black pickguard and pickup rings join black Max Grip speed knobs, which provide optimum, no-slip control.

Case and coverage

The Les Paul Studio Pro 2014 comes protected in a vintage-brown hardshell case, includes a truss-rod wrench and owner's manual, and is backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson's 24/7/365 Customer Service.
zZounds Expert Review
An upgrade from the standard Studio models, the 2014 Les Paul Studio Pro really stood out to me. I have owned my fair share of Pauls, and most are on the heavier side. With this Studio Pro's lighter, modern-weight-relieved mahogany body, I was able to rock out for longer without straining. As a frequent lead player, I try to stick with guitars that have a thinner neck, and the '60s-style SlimTaper neck on this Les Paul felt great. For someone like me who's always looking for a variety of tones, the LP Studio Pro's combination of '57 Classics and BurstBucker Pros with the push-pull pots definitely helps -- it gets me that classic rock tone, and more of a blues type of sound as well. As a worship leader at my church, I need to be able to switch tones on the fly, and the LP Studio Pro's push-pull pots let me achieve this instantly. For the person looking for a do-everything guitar -- check this one out!

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us. "My First Les Paul"
Sound: The 2014 Les Paul Studio Pro sounds great. Looks great. Easy to play. The coil tapping is a little underwhelming, but I've only had the guitar a few hours, so experimentation is in order. What else can I say? It's a Les Paul. Feature: Typical Les Paul. Mahogany body and neck with a maple top. I would've loved some locking tuners to come standard on this. Everything else is great. Ease of Use: Easy to get great tone. Playability is like butter. I have an ESP LTD EC-1000, and the Les Paul is a lot easier to play, and that's saying a lot. Quality: This guitar will be around long after I'm dead. Value: I think its still a little overpriced. It seems like Gibson does charge a lot for it's name, but then again the craftsmanship is worth it. Manufacturer Support: I've never dealt with Gibson. The Wow Factor: The teal blue candy is super sexy. Overall: This is my first Les Paul and I love it!

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us. "Awesome!"
Overall: Great guitar! It has a lot of cool features like quick connect pickups and high gloss candy paint. The AA maple is still pretty flame-y and the guitar just sparkles. It has all the classic Gibson tone you expect from a a Les Paul. My only complaint is the Burstbucker sounds a little tinny unless it is driving the tube of a cranked amp, then it sounds amazing! Features: The coil splits are great for maximizing the versatility of the guitar. The upgraded quik-connect electronics and Orange Drop Caps are very cool and worth the upgrade over the standard studio alone. The case is classic Gibson protection Quality: Plays great, looks great, sounds great. I am very happy, the finish is beautiful and as shiny as a les paul should be! Manufacturer support: Not my first new Gibson, and I still haven't had to find out! Sound: The 57 classic sounds good all the time. Beautiful woman tone with the tone knob rolled back all the way, smooth single coil tones and nice warm clean tone. The Burstbucker is great when you are playing loud, but only so so if it isn't driving the tubes. It has endless combinations if you throw in the splits as well. Ease of use: It plays really nice, I like the plek system and what it does for the setup! Value: More than worth what I paid! The wow factor: I get lots of compliments on the look and sound. My breath hitched a little when I fist opened the case.
