As a throwback to the classic Les Pauls of the '50s and '60s, this left-handed edition of the Gibson 2013 Les Paul Traditional electric guitar is packed with vintage-style features for the modern player. This instrument preserves the sound and classy look of the original Les Paul Standard through its rounded late-'50s-style neck profile and PAF-inspired '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus humbucking pickups, along with a figured maple top, mahogany body, and unchambered back. Whether you want your sound to be clean or gritty, the 2013 Les Paul Traditional delivers.
Time-Honored Tonewoods and Specs
Easy on the eyes and hands, the 2013 Les Paul Traditional features a carved top of solid figured maple and a solid mahogany non-weight-relieved back. You won't find any laminated pieces here; this electric guitar is made of pure wood. Its tonewood combination of mahogany and maple stays true to the traditional makeup of the original Les Paul Standard from way back when, offering players the solid feel and crisp articulation of a classic guitar.
Rounded Late '50s Neck Profile
The instrument's mahogany neck is topped with a bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and trapezoid inlays. Keeping things traditional, the 2013 Les Paul Traditional sports the rounded late-'50s neck shape so popular in past Les Pauls, a 24 3/4" scale length, a 1 11/16" width across the Plek-cut Corian nut, and a 12" fingerboard radius for smooth bending. Other notable features include cream body and fingerboard binding, pickguard, and pickup rings, plus gold Speed knobs with dial pointers.
Warm '57 Classic Pickups
The 2013 Les Paul Traditional's '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus pickups recall the sound of Gibson's original PAF -- Seth Lover's original humbucker design, and the company's gold standard for guitar pickups. These chrome-covered pickups are made in the style of the hallowed PAF humbucker of the late '50s with Alnico II magnets, with a traditional wind in the neck position, and slightly over-wound coils in the '57 Classic Plus in the bridge position. With these dual-coil babies onboard, you get a guitar that oozes mellow warmth and clarity along with just the right amount of crunchiness for your rock-out moments.
Knowing that most guitarists would want to go over the top during live performances and recording sessions, Gibson wax-potted both pickups to help avoid microphonic squeal at high volume levels. Each pickup is routed through Orange Drop capacitors to their individual tone knobs for smooth high-end roll-off. A Tune-o-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece round out the electric guitar, providing solid sustain and accurate intonation.

The Left Handed Edition of Gibson USA's Les Paul Traditional offers that great revamped Les Paul design to a greater variety of players. Offering a timeless blend of tones, great looks, and unrivaled playability the Les Paul Traditional offers an unchambered back, rounded late-'50s neck shape and dual PAF-style humbuckers pickups with Orange Drop tone capacitors give no end of power and finesse.
The Les Paul Traditional's tonewood combination retains the great sound of the original Les Paul Standard, with an unchambered back for a thick, meaty tone and superb sustain. It's rounded late-'50s neck shape reflects one of the most popular profiles ever used on a Les Paul. All this, and the new Les Paul Traditional looks outrageous with its Grade-AA figured maple top, all in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.
The Les Paul Traditional is built on a foundation of the same traditional tonewood combination that helped to make the Les Paul Standard legendary when it first arrived six decades ago. A carved solid Grade-AA figured maple top lends bite and articulation to the sound while looking great in the process, and a solid, mahogany back without weight relief contributes superb warmth and depth.
A quarter-sawn, Grade-A mahogany neck is glued in and carved in a comfortably rounded late-'50s profile that measures .900 inch at the 1st fret and 1.00 inch at the 12th, and topped with a bound Grade-A rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays.
Traditional touches include cream body and fingerboard binding, pickguard, and pickup rings, along with gold Speed Knobs with dial pointers. Classic Gibson construction ensures optimum playability, too, along with traditional specs like a 24-3/4 inch scale length, a 1-11/16 inch width across the PLEK-cut Corian nut, and a 12-inch fingerboard radius for smooth, easy bending.
Pure vintage-voiced tone with a contemporary edge is assured by a pair of Gibson's '57 Classic pickups with traditional chromed covers. Both are made in the image of the hallowed PAF humbucker of the late 1950s with Alnico II magnets, a traditional wind in the neck position for plenty of warmth and clarity, and slightly over-wound coils in the '57 Classic Plus in the bridge position for juicy crunch and wailing lead tones. Both pickups are wax potted, too, to avoid microphonic squeal at high volume levels, and routed through Orange Drop tone capacitors to their individual tone controls for a smooth, rich high-end roll off.
The innovative pairing of a Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensures solid sustain and precise intonation, while a set of high-quality TonePros vintage-style ensures smooth, accurate tuning.
Each guitar includes a Gibson hardshell case covered in black snakeskin-textured vinyl, an owner's manual, and truss-rod wrench, and comes covered by Gibson USA's Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 Customer Service.
