Coil-tappable, wax-potted BurstBucker Pro pickups harness the rich and creamy resonance of the mahogany-bodied Les Paul Standard Plus for lefties.

Updated for 2013, the left-handed Les Paul Standard Plus combines superb tonewoods with powerful electronics for an outstanding Les Paul experience. The tried-and-true combination of a mahogany body, mahogany neck, and maple top is retained with the added versatility of split-coil pickups. An upgraded compound-radius fretboard adds a stellar degree of comfort, while the classic tenets of Les Paul design help capture all the tone, style and playability of a golden-era Gibson.

Powerful Humbuckers with Coil Tapping and More

The Les Paul Standard wields two of Gibson's celebrated Burstbucker Pro pickups. These powerful humbuckers deliver the bold, thick tones of a classic Les Paul with robust midrange and engrossing low end. This Les Paul takes things a step further, with versatile split-coil functionality. Both volume knobs double as a push-pull switches, which transform their respective Burstbuckers into a tuneful single-coil pickup. Beyond the coil tapping, one of the tone knobs functions as a phase switch, while the other engages a "pure bybass" feature to send a signal directly from the bridge pickup to the output jack. Between the clear, ringing tones of the single-coil setting, and the fat, thumping tones of the humbucker, the 2013 Les Paul Standard offers an enormous range of excellent sonic textures to work with.

Built for Quality and Comfort

In addition to a hugely versatile electronic configuration, this release includes a redesigned compound-radius fretboard read more for smooth playability from top to bottom. The neck is in the classic '60s slim taper profile, and joined with a deep running set tenon -- one of the fundamental ingredients to that classic Gibson sustain. Also true to classic Gibson design are the sturdy Grover kidney tuners and Tune-o-Matic bridge.

Stunning Les Paul Looks

The 2013 Les Paul Standard Plus features a AAA flame maple top with an array of attractive finishes to really highlight the natural beauty of the wood grain. Gibson uses a hand-applied finishing process to ensure that each guitar's finish lives up to the model's high standards. 2013 Les Paul Standard Plus Left-Handed

The Les Paul Standard has always been the cornerstone of the Gibson USA lineup, and the new Les Paul Standard holds that same esteemed position at the center of the 2013 Year of Les Paul celebrations. This is the most versatile Les Paul Standard ever created, the ultimate embodiment of Les Paul's vision of innovation and elegance, and truly represents a marriage of timeless tone with contemporary flexibility and playability. Key features include a superbly comfortable new asymmetrical rendition of the SlimTaper neck profile that fits the player's hand like a glove, a compound-radius rosewood fingerboard, and stealth wiring for the great BurstBucker Pro(TM) 1 & 2 pickups that provides individual coil splitting, phase reversal, and Pure Bypass switching all without changing the look of the classic control layout. To top it off, the Les Paul Standard 2013 looks sublime in your choice of Grade-AA figured, Standard Plus with Grade-AAA figured top, Premium top, Premium Quilt maple top, or even a figured Koa top beneath your choice of high-gloss Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Honey Burst, Desert Burst, Translucent Amber, or Tea Burst finish, all in nitrocellulose lacquer, and there's also a Goldtop option for that classic '50s look. Left-handed versions are also available.

The new Les Paul Standard 2013 follows the same formula as the most beloved Les Pauls of all time. The guitar shows off its looks with a Grade-AA figured maple top, or take it over the top with a gorgeous Grade-AAA, Premium, or Premium Quilted top for outrageous looks. The marriage of solid maple top and mahogany back, treated to Gibson's new modern weight relief pattern for improved comfort and enhanced resonance, provides a blend of richness, depth, punch, and clarity that no single-wood guitar can provide. A solid, quarter-sawn mahogany neck is carved in a new asymmetrical version of the popular '60s profile, making it one of the most appealing necks Gibson has ever produced, and its topped with a bound rosewood fingerboard with a superbly playable compound radius that's rounder down in the "open chord" positions and flatter up in the lead zone. Traditional trapezoid inlays keep it all looking just right, along with cream binding, pickguard, and pickup rings, amber top-hat knobs, and a traditional black-and-white bell truss rod cover. Classic Gibson constructional elements ensure the new Les Paul Standard plays just like the greatest Standards ever, with traditional specs like a 24" scale length, and a 1 11/16" width across the PLEK-cut Corian nut.

The new Les Paul Standard's real surprises lurk in its upgraded pickups and extremely clever wiring and control setup. A pair of BurstBucker Pro pickups, a #1 in the neck position and #2 in the bridge, follow the blueprint for Gibson's hallowed PAF humbuckers of the late '50s, but are updated with potted coils for howl-free performance at high volumes, and four-conductor wiring that allows for incredible versatility. The independent volume pot for each pickup has push-pull switching to independently split the coils for single-coil tones, with hum-cancelling performance in the middle position thanks to a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity bridge pickup. Pop up the neck pickup's tone control for reverse-phase tones, or lift the bridge pickup's tone knob to tap Gibson's new Pure Bypass setting, which routes that pickup straight through to the output jack, bypassing the volume and tone controls for a hotter, clearer sound, making it a great "instant lead" preset. The innovative pairing of a locking TonePros Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensures solid sustain and precise intonation, while a set of high-quality locking Grover kidney-button tuners ensures smooth, accurate tuning.

Each guitar comes protected in a plush-lined hardshell case with black exterior, and includes owner's manual and adjustment literature, along with Gibson's Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 customer service.

Features:

- Mahogany neck with compound radius Rosewood fingerboard and asymmetrical SlimTaper profile
- Coil-tapped BurstBucker Pro Rhythm and BurstBucker Pro Lead pickups in the neck and bridge TonePros Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece
- Grover Locking kidney tuners with 18:1 tuning ratio
