Celebrating 120 years of Gibson guitars, Gibson presents the 2014 Les Paul Melody Maker. Stocked with a pair of P-90S pickups, a vintage '50s rounded neck, and a slimmer mahogany body, this Les Paul is a slim-figured beauty any guitarist would fall for. Whether you're looking for an addition to your sound, or if you're just curious about entering the renowned world of Gibson Les Pauls, the 2014 Melody Maker is a great supplement to anyone's collection.

Comfortable Slim Mahogany Body and Maple Neck

The 2014 Les Paul Melody Maker's mahogany body is lightweight and comfortable. With a slim body and carved maple top, you get the resounding qualities of many of Gibson's other Les Pauls without the issue of dealing with weight. The curved back feels comfortable hanging against your body -- leaving room to move around easily on stage. The glued-in maple rounded '50s neck has a rosewood fretboard of 22 cryogenically frozen corrosion-resistant frets that stand up to wear-and-tear. That's great because you'll be playing this Les Paul for a while once you get your hands on it.

A Stellar Pair of P-90S Pickups

The Melody Maker's bridge and neck P-90S pickups are fitted with Alnico Slug magnets and mirror that classic P-90 single-coil sound. Their famous high-output sound is heard in that pristine crunch you'll instantly recognize from scores of rock records over the decades. The non-distorted tone has a nice range from a smooth sparkly clean to a slightly rawer clean with a little read more less high end. You get a smooth balance and great dynamic sound from what many argue to be Gibson's most versatile pickup -- updated for 2014 for improved clarity and dynamics.

Great List of Additional Features for 2014

The 2014 Les Paul Melody Maker also comes with Max Grip Speed knobs that are easy to reach and use, no matter how sweaty your fingers might get. The satin chrome wraparound tailpiece will anchor your strings tightly and securely -- allowing longer sustain and resonance as you play. Also -- new for 2014 -- are the enlarged strap buttons to keep your strap secure and in place as you move around.

Features:

- P-90S bridge and neck single-coil pickups
- Glued-in maple '50s profile neck
- Maple-topped slim mahogany body
- Wrap around bridge/tailpiece
- Black Max Grip speed knobs
- Enlarged strap buttons for greater strap security
- 22 frets with Gibson's 120th anniversary inlay at 12th fret

This 2014 release is a great catch if you want that instantly recognizable rock sound heard from so many rock bands throughout the decades. The pair of P-90S single-coil pickups really capture that legendary crunchy distortion, and the slim mahogany body feels great and comfortable resting against you as you play. Gibson 2014 Les Paul Melody Maker

To celebrate the 120th Anniversary of the world's most respected guitar maker, Gibson USA has unveiled an entire lineup that represents several of the greatest values ever offered in hand-made American electric guitars. The Les Paul Melody Maker is a prime example: backed by a wealth of innovation and experience, it's a genuine Gibson at every turn that represents exceptional value. Following the popular Les Paul Custom Lite of 2013, this guitar captures classic LP styling in a slimmed-down body that's superbly comfortable to play, and it looks superb.

Stripped-down and rockin' to the core, the Les Paul Melody Maker derives its firepower from Gibson's P-90S pickups, which build on the legendary P-90 tone with improved clarity and dynamics. Further 2014 120th Anniversary additions include larger no-slip strap buttons, black Max Grip Speed Knobs, a GraphTech nut, long-life proprietary coated guitar strings, cryogenic treated fret wire for longer life and corrosion resistance, a full PLEK setup, and a 120th Anniversary logo inlay at the 12th fret. Throw in a sublimely comfortable rounded '50s neck profile and legendary Gibson construction and playability, and the 2014 Les Paul Melody Maker is simply a stunning value.

Body and neck

The Les Paul Melody Maker is crafted from a solid mahogany back with a carved maple top. While its lines mirror the shape of the hallowed Les Paul Standard, its shallower depth makes it superbly light and comfortable to play. It has a glued-in maple neck with a rounded '50s profile, rosewood fingerboard topped with a GraphTech nut, 22 cryogenic-treated frets for long life and corrosion resistance, dot inlays, and a commemorative 120th Anniversary inlay at the 12th fret.

Pickups and electronics

The guitar carries a pair of Gibson's P-90S pickups in the neck and bridge position. Made with genuine Alnico pole pieces, these pickups reflect the beloved P-90 single-coil tone, with improved depth and clarity. They're wired through the traditional complement of independent volume and tone controls, and a three-way selector switch.

Hardware

Following the stripped-down ethos of the Melody Maker line, the guitar carries no pickguard and minimal ready-to-rock hardware. A satin chrome "lightning bar" wraparound tailpiece anchors it all down for outstanding resonance and sustain, while retro white-button tuners retain a vintage look, and enlarged strap buttons keep your guitar secure throughout the set.

Case and coverage

The Les Paul Melody Maker comes protected in a Gibson gig back, includes a truss-rod wrench and owner's manual, and is backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson's 24/7/365 Customer Service.

I wanted a guitar with P-90's but wasn't sure which guitar would suit me best so I went to a local guitar center tried out a bunch 8 guitars I think and last but not least was a melody maker with a single p-90 and I fell in love!!! So I decided to go home and order the 120th Anniversary Gibson LP melody maker for the price I'm not sure you will find a better sounding guitar!! This thing sounds great out of my vox AC30cc2 for cleans sounds amazing out of my bogner ecstacy classic for an amazing rock tone even sounds good out of my mark V in high gain spectrum!! Very versitile this thing had mojo right out the box.So if your looking for a great guitar for under 600 bucks look no further can't say anything bad about this guitar even the TV yellow finish was really nice!
