What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Gibson '57 Classic humbucking pickups Vintage PAF feel; warmth, depth and distinct edge
Granadillo fretboard Distinct "bell-like" tone, similar to rosewood
Mahogany body Rich, warm, focused sound; added sustain
Mahogany neck Great sustain, strength, and warm tone

This radical rocker lives to dominate the stage. Ever since its introduction in the late 50s, the Flying V has turned heads and contributed its powerful, distinctive sound to every musical genre from blues to metal to EDM. Instantly recognizable and truly iconic, the Flying V has staked its place in history as an imaginative re-invention of the electric guitar.

The latest Flying V has the looks of the original, with some clever twists for modern musicians. The re-designed headstock gives superior balance, while the slightly thinner body provides exceptional playing comfort without sacrificing the Flying V's renowned sustain. Traditional Gibson humbuckers deliver that big, thick, powerful sound from the all-mahogany body, while the lean, stripped-down look with no pickup rings or bindings proclaims that this exciting V is ready to channel the past beyond the present, and into the future.

OK, if you like the feel of the "thin body" V's from the 70's-early 80's like me this is for you! It does not have the skinny 1-9/16 wide nut like the Kalamazoo guitars. Plays very well. Very solid feeling. Two things I would change though. 1 the finish on mine is so thick on the back of the head stock that it's impossible to read the serial number or anything else. That may be just the one I got but it really should not be like that. 2. The fret wire on this guitar is unlike any I have seen on a Gibson ever and I have owned just about every type of solid body they make. Now I'm not bashing! I love Gibson guitars. Just the frets on this one are thin and no where near as high off the fingerboard as I am used to. Now that is just me and my taste. Try one for yourself and if they sell enough of them it may become a standard model!!! Great guitar though.

Musical Background:
