The Gibson ES-335 Bass Guitar is back after 40 years! Previously only available on the highest-priced end of the vintage rack, this unique design is once again being hand-built at Gibson's legendary Memphis, Tennessee factory. The Gibson ES-335 bass is built to the original carving specifications, and updates the electronics with a pair of warm, crisp humbuckers. If you're considering adding the unique sound and playability of a semi-hollowbody to your bass rig, now may finally be the right time.

Carved to Original Specs

The neck on the Gibson ES-335 electric bass is carved from a single piece of quarter-sawn maple, in a contemporary 34-inch scale length. You'll find this incredibly comfortable neck set with an all-rosewood fingerboard, and inlaid on 8 frets with traditional white dot inlays. There are stainless steel frets with clear access up through the 17th position.

The ES-335 is one of the most storied electric guitar body shapes ever. This edition is cut to the exact original body specs, with all-maple arched top and sides, and the 1961-style maple centerblock that imparts it with maximal punch and sustain.

New Pickups and Position Placement

You'll notice that the higher pickup on the ES-335 bass is in more of a "middle" position than a typical "neck" position. This gives this upper pickup far more definition and makes it a lot more useful musically. Meanwhile, the humbucker in the bridge position instantly delivers that big percussive sound characteristic read more of Gibson's semi-hollowbody basses. With such thoughtfully re-conceived pickup design, you'll find a world of tones to explore via the 3-way toggle switch, and the separate Volume and Tone pots on each pickup.

A Classic Look Throughout

The pickups are chrome-covered, giving them a traditional look that matches the chrome tuning pegs on the vintage-style headstock. A classic Gibson 3-point bridge keeps your intonation solid while you savor the unique experience of playing this gorgeous instrument.

If you want a bass that isn't heavy but has an awesome sound - this is it. Looks great, sounds great, and has that really nice feel when you play it. I can't say enough good things about this bass. I have a Warwick, Fender custom shop jazz bass, Les Paul gold top bass, Martin acoustic, and others but this is rapidly becoming my favorite.
