Employing a much-beloved guitar body shape, the Gibson Les Paul electric bass has long ago earned its reputation as a killer axe. Its design, construction, and pair of chrome-covered TB Plus pickups all come together to create a tonal character that is full, punchy, and powerful.

Based on a Legendary Design

The Gibson Les Paul electric bass takes its cues from the profile and design specs of the world-famous Les Paul Standard six-string guitar, with the same classic tonewood combination: a mahogany body with solid carved maple top. The mahogany offers depth and richness, while the maple gives Les Paul its characteristic snap and edge. Under its hand-sprayed gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, this maple top is also quite an eye-catcher! The Les Paul electric bass is carved out with a number of tone chambers that lead to greater resonance, while reducing the instrument's overall weight.

Set Neck and Solid Hardware

The solid mahogany neck is glued in a deep-set design maximizing contact between the neck and body joints. This 34-inch scale neck is carved to a comfortably rounded '50s-style profile, and set with a solid Grade-A rosewood fingerboard. There are traditional trapezoid inlays on 8 of the 20 medium-jumbo frets. The PLEK-cut Corian nut ensures perfect string lay, reinforced with the famous Gibson Tune-o-matic bridge and stud-mounted stopbar tailpiece. A set of professional-grade Grover bass tuners with a 20:1 gear ratio deliver exceptional tuning precision.

Exceptional TB Plus Pickups Onboard

read more The two TB Plus pickups onboard are of a passive, dual-coil ceramic design, and have a notably high output. This gives you a wide tonal range to play with, stretching from a warm smooth tone appropriate for jazz and R&B, to a punchy and powerful tone that will serve hard rock and metal. With these pickups, the Gibson Les Paul electric bass guitar really is one of the most versatile electric basses in its class.
