Feature:
The concept behind this pedal is genius- It does alot while not taking up more space on my pedalboard than a wah! The eq works well. OD's can kill some bass and the eq on this pedal makes it easy to dial that back in if you want it. It is tough to find an eq setting that works well with all 3 positions as the 3rd and most distorted position can add piercing highs, but when you eq the highs down a bit it takes some of the natural highs out of the 1st two positions. With that said I have found a happy medium. Also, like I've read in other reviews I wish that there was more volume on each of the 3 settings. I will add to that by saying I wish the gain knob could dial in more gradual amounts of gain.
Quality:
Like a tank so far. Very sturdy and very light.
Value:
The price is good, not great but good. I wish all good od's cost as much as my Nobel ODR-1.
Desirability:
I wanted this for a long time and now I own it. I said the same thing about the Fender Fuzz Wah, but the Fender got returned and this pedal stayed. I really like to dial in a good tone on stage and this pedal helps me be versitile depending on the song, mood, and volume level.
Sound:
This pedal has a good sound and I own a few od's that I've compared it to (Nobel OD-1, FD2, etc). The first two positions I'm able to find bluesy tones and rock tones. In all three stages I generally have the volume all the way up with the gain all the way down as this this pedal gets a good gritty sound with the gain on the lowest setting. I am using a Les Paul so the humbuckers drive the pedal harder up front than a strat would and I imagine a this pedal would be more versitile tonally with a strat. The gain in stage 2 and 3 get distorted extremely fast with my guitar/amp setup. The sound is good but the 3-position setting is the real selling point. I have a single channel amp so I need the ability to go from a rhythm sound to a lead sound.
Ease of Use:
This one does have a small learning curve, but anyone interested in pedals will quickly dial in the sound they want.
Support:
I have not had to deal with the company but feel confident that they would be helpful should something go wrong.
Overall:
If you're like me and you need to find a variety of sounds this is great! Having said that if you just need one good overdrive look up the Pork Loin by Way Huge, or if you own a Marshall/Vox/Matchless(anything with EL34s) look up the Nobel ODR-1 it's only $50!!
