Real-time sampling, resampling and slicing

Geist lets you cut up loops and breaks and send them to pads with a single click. It delivers the flexibility you crave for really involved slicing operations, and an intelligent classify system to build kits from loops in seconds.

Geist can resample its output or sample external input. Record multiple takes and exact loops, sending them to the slicer with a few clicks. Whether you dig in crates or play synths, guitar or bass, Geist lets you inject sounds onto pads fast.

Sonic sculpture and sequencing

Geist's sound sculpting tools include stunning FX with DCAM modelled compression, filtering and drive. The pattern sequencer includes step-automation for parameters, real-time recording and retro capture, for laying down takes without pressing record first.

An integrated song mode lets you build complex, evolving pattern arrangements in a musical and fun way. Record pattern and scene triggers live, draw and edit parts directly on the linear timeline, or just jam away and capture your performance afterwards.

High-performance browsing and DAW integration

Geist's browser is built to make it faster than ever to find your sounds. Set up favourites, save searches, compare files from different folders in shortlists. You can even send previews through a discrete output, perfect for building beats in live scenarios.

Sound: As an experienced recording engineer, the thought of a sampling plug-in having a "sound" would seem ridiculous to me before using Geist. Without question, I can pinpoint the sound of Geist, a very full and warm sound, the bus compressors and band pass filters sound great and the included sound banks and presets are very nice and a great way to get acquainted with the product. Feature: This plug-in is all about the features. The level that you can edit, mix, and stack sounds is unparalleled. The sampler is wonderful, the automation lanes can create effects, automate sends, reverse/stutter sample edits and generally kick all sorts of butt on your audio. Sample and re sample until you have mangled your audio into a Frankenstein of awesome. Ease of Use: This program has many facets and features, on one hand it is a simple drum sampler and on the other is a very intuitive and complete sampling machine. This plug-in is for the intermediate producer/engineer looking for a high-powered sampler. Fxpansion has produced a very nice video serious, introducing one to the features and functionality of Geist. Quality: Having recently purchased the product I was pleased to see there had already been 3 major updates to the software, addressing every problem I had read about on the forums. Software is stable,GUI is fantastic and the audio browser is major asset to this software. Value: The list price is fair for such a powerful piece of software. You could spend more on some of the other software samplers with bells and whistles but if you are looking for a professional grade sampler, with a solid GUI and a fantastic work flow this is your plug in. Manufacturer Support: I have not dealt with Fxpansion personally, but everything I have read on their forum site, from both customers and employees suggests the company has a deep commitment to customer service and technical related inquiries. The Wow Factor: I saw someone use it on a session in the studio, I had to have it. Overall: I expect to grow more fond of this plug in as I use it more. Once mastered this plug in is a total game changer. Anyone interested in the workflow/sound/vibe of a piece of hardware will love this plug in.

Sound: Fxpansion has always been synonymous with amazing sound quality, This product is no different. I owned(key word) Motu BPM and it fell short of what i was looking for in a software drum machine/sampler. The sound of the filters and time-stretch flippin' rule!!! Feature: Just a dvd with the program itself a very decent soundbank and since I was a early adopter it came with a free soundbank which is also awesome. The packaging was also not a waste of trees either. Ease of Use: Very easy if you have been producing for a bit or have used guru or an akai mpc. I can see it having a bit of a learning curve for a novice user. Quality: Fxpansion does not disappoint and they have never put out a product that was not the epitome of rock solid performance and ease. Value: I think the initial price of 249.99 was a smart move on their part as it easily contends with NI's Maschine and the cost of a really decent pad controller will put you right at NI's price point. It's worth it. I don't see myself investing into another software drum machine/sampler in a long time! Manufacturer Support: The Fxpansion support forum always has the Fxpansion team (even the CEO!) answering your questions and addressing bugs/issues and they actually listen. Software DONE RIGHT! The Wow Factor: The UI could be a tad (I do mean a tad) bit more polished but I do see they left a bit of real estate for new features to be added and it does not seem cluttered at all. Overall: Will not be going elsewhere to do the things that Geist does. Fxpansion has won me over with this amazing product, So much in fact Im going for their DCAM synths next!
