What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
C-shaped neck profile Comfortable, rounded oval shape
Maple neck Bright tone, full sustain and strength
3-way pickup selector switch Wide tonal range: select neck, bridge, or both
Road Worn finish Look and feel of a "broken in," well-played guitar

With the Road Worn '50s Telecaster, Fender recreates the look and feel of a well-loved, high-mileage axe -- without the vintage-instrument price tag. Outfitted with '50s-style hardware and given a factory-distressed look, this sweet Tele feels broken-in right out of the box.

Worn Looks, Fresh Feel

Audiences may think you and your Road Worn '50s Telecaster have rocked an untold number of crowds together, even if you're 16 and just received it a week ago. That's because Fender roughed up this version with exposed wood along the edges and a distressed fretboard. This gives the guitar the look of a heavily played -- but well-cared-for -- vintage Telecaster. The aging touches are more than just cosmetic -- upon picking up the broken-in, C-shaped maple neck, you might fool yourself into thinking you've scored a deal on an actual vintage guitar!

Tex Mex Pickups Growl

Giving this Telecaster the sounds to match its rough-around-the-edges demeanor are its Tex Mex Tele single-coil pickups. These pickups are over-wound for a "hotter" sound, making for a guitar that can handle a wide range of styles and sounds -- from the '50s on through modern music. The neck pickup provides thick enough sound for lead blues tones, while the bridge pickup easily cuts through the mix with a bright response. Players can easily clean up their tone by rolling back on the volume knob or dial in more subtle sounds with the tone knob.

Parts to Match the Period

The '50s were a banner decade for Fender, read more and the Road Worn '50s Telecaster pays tribute to the era with its hardware aesthetics. A vintage-style three-saddle bridge, given the rustic treatment, echoes those used in the late 1950s. A single-ply pickguard and Fender/Ping vintage-style tuners complete the old-school appointments.

Fender Road Worn 50s Telecaster Guitar

Like classic cars or your favorite T-shirt, some things just get cooler with age. It's especially true of electric guitars--they develop an unmistakable mojo over time that only makes 'em look even cooler and feel even more comfortable than when they were brand-new. Fender's Road Worn '50s Tele guitar delivers that killer aged look, feel and mojo without breaking the bank; designed using 1950s specs augmented by Tex-Mex pickups and 6105 frets. A true player.

The first Fender workhorse; the original road warrior guitar. Fender's long road begins with the Telecaster, a guitar that amazingly looked even cooler and handled even better the more players heaped wear-and-tear on it -- great when brand-new but positively phenomenal with a few thousand miles on it. Fender's maple-fretboard Road Worn '50s Tele delivers that aged look and feel -- built to look, sound and feel like it has survived half a century, designed with 1950s specs, including a nitrocellulose-lacquer finish, and supercharged with Tex-Mex pickups and 6105 frets.

This is a great telecaster, mine actually doesn't even look worn which is actually really cool to me. It doesn't have the excessive neck wear, it actually has none at all. Really thin coat of nitro, that will look awesome with a couple of years of wear. Very happy with this guitar.
Sound
The sound is great, not too thin, not too powerful. A great classic mix of rock and country sounds. It actually sounds really well compared to my 52ri telecaster, this is my new gigging guitar as I really don't want to bring my 2,000 dollar tele to smoky bar gigs.
Features
Simple telecaster controls, all the essentials.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use and plays exceptionally well. Was set up great out of the box.
Quality
It really feels like a well built guitar, cosmetically just enough wear to make it fit the "roadworn" title. Not overdone like they use to be, really happy with this guitar, it is definitely going into the gigging line up to give my old highway one strat a break.
Value
I got it at a pricematched price thanks to zzounds, this a great company to buy from!
Manufacturer Support
they have always been helpful with me in the past so I have no issues with them. Fender is great!
The Wow Factor
I can't believe its not my 52 ri, if I could post a picture its almost impossible to tell them apart.
