Alder Precision Bass Body

Your Road Worn Precision bass's body is cut into Fender's instantly recognizable Precision body shape that fits right against your front like a comfortable puzzle piece. Alder is a very popular choice for Fender guitars. It's a medium-weight wood, so it won't strain your back, and it pushes your mids and lows gently, giving your tone a pleasing, full-bodied sound. Alder also provides your playing a decent amount of sustain and resonance.

Precision Bass Split Single-Coil Pickup

Packed inside your axe's alder body is a Precision Bass split single-coil pickup to capture and project your notes. This pickup's two-piece configuration captures your higher strings closer to the bridge, while your lower strings are picked up closer to the neck. This gives your lower tones a nice and beefy color, while your higher notes hive slightly more brightness read more and edginess to them, allowing your higher melodic notes to cut through with a little more presence. It's a classic design that's stood the test of time since the original P Bass hit the scene in the 1950s.

C-Shaped Maple Neck and Fingerboard

You'll love the way this maple neck feels once you wrap your hand around its comfortable C shaped cut. Its maple fingerboard is smooth to the touch, and your fingers will glide effortlessly across this appendage's 22 vintage-style frets. The maple wood on this neck gives your playing a pleasant tightness, and although maple is a somewhat bright wood, your high notes won't have any overbearing timbre. A warm and well-rounded tone is what you get with every note from your Road Worn '50s Precision bass.

Secure and Sleek Chrome/Nickel Hardware

Adding to this baby's vintage looks is its slick chrome/nickel hardware. Your vintage-style reverse tuners give this axe a cool aged look, and your American Vintage Precision Bass bridge holds your game down in style and confident security. Fender Road Worn '50s Precision Bass

The original was born in the '50s and produced the sound of bass. On the road, the more you punished a Precision, the more it gave back -- a virtually indestructible bass that took a beating and laughed while it asked for more, becoming even cooler-looking and more comfortable-feeling. Fender's Road Worn '50s Precision Bass guitar delivers that aged look and feel -- designed with 1950s specs, including a nitrocellulose-lacquer finish, and built to look, sound and feel like it's got more than just a few miles on it.

I expect to be happy with this bass for a long while. I was collecting cheaper basses in the past (and fixing them up), but there is nothing like buying and playing a more quality instrument.

Sound
The sound of this 50s road worn Pbass is awesome IMHO... however, I changed the pickup (based on a review I read elsewhere). I crossed my fingers and put in a SeymourDuncan Antiquity pickup, as suggested by the reviewer. I am not sorry I did that. Whereas the original pickup sounded great. the seymour duncan sounds really-really great.

Features
Not many features here except for the free gigbag. The road worn look is nice. I got the sunburst model. The brass pickguard is groovy. the retro tuners are tight but really hold tuning well. The neck feels like it's on the large side, but only a fraction. I got used to it fairly quick and have adjusted (was playing basses with smaller necks before).

Ease of Use
This is a very simple bass. just plug it in and play. One volume knob, One tone knob.... done. This bass is kind of a large instrument, so I would not recommend this one for small kids learning bass etc... the bass has a nice weight to it. not too heavy, and not too light either.

Quality
The fit and finish are nearly flawless. The quality is fairly high. The one thing I had to do (and this is due to my guitar tech knowledge) is add another string tree (string holder-downer read more thingy) for the two heavy strings E and A....BECAUSE.... there was moderated string buzzing in the nut slots. holding the strings down stopped the nut buzzing. The bass comes with the standard one string tree for the D and G strings. Overall, I am very happy with the bass quality and finish.

Value
I paid the full discount list of 999.99 (used the 4 payment plan). It is about the maximum I would pay. I almost wish it was more like 899 tops. However, this is ultimately a fine bass to own....

Manufacturer Support
have not used it yet for the bass. but I have asked Fender for help with other matters, and they have always come thru with answers.

The Wow Factor
I would say this bass is inspiring, it has a high 'coolness' factor, in my opinion...
