Fender American Special Strat (Maple)

For over five decades, guitarists looking to move up to the next level have looked to the American Fender Stratocaster. The USA Strat has been in a class of its own, but for many musicians, the price tag has been just a bit too high. Now, though, with the release of the Fender American Special series, guitarists are able to get a US-built Stratocaster for less than ever before.

The American Special Stratocaster has a series of accoutrements making it a great guitar in its own right, beyond the performance and build quality that come with made-in-the-USA Strats. For one, the American Special has a full set of 3 Texas Special Strat pickups, for a little more heat than your average Stratocaster. It's also got Greasebucket tone circuits, so if you want to roll off high frequencies from your tone you won't boost the bass accidentally - a common frustration for single-coil players. The American Special Strat also has a vintage-style two-point vibrato with bent steel sides for great note bends, 22 jumbo frets, and a large 70's-style headstock. This guitar's alder body has a gloss urethane finish, and makes great use of it.

The Fender American Special Stratocaster makes the legendary guitar an attainable goal for more guitarists than ever.

Features:

- Maple neck with "C" profile and "large" headstock

- Three Texas Special(TM) single-coil Stratocaster pickups
- Five-way pickup switch
- Greasebucket(TM) tone circuit (rolls off highs without adding bass)
- Vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge

I played this guitar and a few new Strats the same day, came home and ordered from Zzounds. The one I got needed a neck adjustment but that was it. Rolled frets and a perfect setup. I could have really giged with it the first night. I just love this guitar. Zzounds made it easy and Fender made it perfect.
Sound
After playing Strat's for over a decade I love the balance. quack, and tonal range. The bridge pup with added tone control is a working man's best friend. I dial it down to about 6 and find a set of tones I have never heard before.
Features
The pickups and tone control can easily satisfy the metal players and I love that but, its the clean tone that blows me away.
Ease of Use
No guitar is for everyone. For me this is a blues machine. Wide neck, tall frets, sweet clean tone and pickups that bite when I dig in to them.
Quality
The paint is mirror like and I can FEEL the notes as the wood vibrates each note. I don't care where it was made, it perfect in every way.
Value
Hands down this is the bets "Bang for your buck" guitar I can think of. If you want an American Stratocaster, you owe it to yourself to try this before paying more for the rest.
