Fuchs Plush Valve Job Tube Overdrive Pedal

Designed by Andy Fuchs himself, the Valve Job delivers crunchy tube overdrive that reacts to your playing dynamics via the touch control knob.

The Fuch's Plush "Valve Job" pedal is a truly unique product, designed by Andy Fuchs. It uses a unique circuit topology which uses a combination of IC's, selected FET's, and a real vacuum tube, for both lowest noise and the warmest tube like overdrive tones possible.

The Plush "Valve Job" is a simple to operate 4-knob overdrive pedal, which is easily dialed in for the widest range of overdrive tones. The gain control is set to control the amount of distortion. It can go from a mild blues style distortion, to a higher gain Dumble style medium gain overdrive when set at maximum gain. The touch control is unique to this product. It sets the amount of touch sensitivity to your fingers and/or how hard you pluck the guitar. The tone control goes from a dark (full counter clockwise) tone, to a bright chimey tone as the control is turned up. Finally, the level control sets the final output level of the pedal. This control is used to set the solo level when the pedal is activated (LED on). The vacuum tube in this unit is not replaceable in the field! It is used in an extremely conservative circuit configuration, and should give years of reliable performance, as it was selected prior to being installed in the pedal.

It is normal for this pedal to have a small amount of mechanically induced noise. Due to the nature of vacuum tubes, tapping on the case may produce some noise in the output signal.
The input impedance is 1-Meg, suitable for most any guitar or signal source. The output impedance read more is approximately 1-K, which is buffered, to drive long cables as well as subsequent effects.

This pedal may be driven by a Plush "Pure Gain" pedal to achieve higher levels of gain and distortion.

The unit is activated when a standard 1/4" guitar cable is plugged into the input jack. This unit runs ONLY on an external AC adaptor, and does not contain a battery. The Plush "Valve job" (like all Plush pedals) provides a hard wire bypass, which means when not in use (LED not lit) the input is connected directly to the output, with no loading of the signal, and no active devices in the signal path. The DC jack on the side is a standard 2.1 mm tip negative adaptor input. The output of the adaptor must be 9-Volts DC.

I use this Valve Job pedal for my Rhodes and Wurlitzer keyboards to add a bit of warm drive, and it sounds phenomenal! The 'Touch' knob allows you to dial in what velocity level you want the tube drive to break up your signal. It warms my keyboard tone while giving punchy tube warmth to full-keyboard runs and hard stabs. Sounds great thru a PA system, DI or solid state amp when you want that tube sound. Used it for vocals and harmonica the other day and was -extremely- impressed! All-around great pedal at a great value!
