The ESP LTD SC208 Stephen Carpenter 8-String is a solid guitar with great craftsmanship at an amazing price! The SC208 was designed in conjunction with legendary Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter. Featuring a basswood body with a bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fingerboard for a light weight but solid feel. ESP LH-308 humbuckers produce a high output signal that is full of rich harmonics and a tight bass response. zZounds is an authorized dealer of ESP products.

"$50 extra?"

Sound: The pick ups sound amazing, I have never picked up a guitar with stock pups and been satisfied with the tone. I could see this guitar being great for all styles of music, weather its distorted and crazy, hi-gain and technical, clean and jazzy, or just modern rock, this beauty has it all Feature: it has a basswood body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard I think, bolt on neck, ESP LH-308 pickups (bridge and neck, passive), 25.5" scale wich sucks, 24 xj frets with no inlays, fixed bridge, and a U contour neck. Really I'm glad the neck is bolt on because that 25.5" scale sucks Ease of Use: This babe has a learning curve, with absolutely no inlays, it makes learning 8 string a wee bit harder The width of the neck of course when moving up a string, but doesn't take long to get over The fixed bridge makes everything easier, though this is a biased opinion seeing that I dislike tremolos on my guitars 1 being an old les paul and 10 being an ergonomic wonder, I give it a 7 Quality: Strong and solid wood, hard pots, a cheasy switch, and damn near bulletproof tuners Value: $450? Naa I say more like $300 I just bought a Dean Vendetta VNXM for $200 new a while back, and though this is an improvement, its not a $250 improvement over the dean Manufacturer Support: I've never dealt with esp directly, I've only ever bought their guitars second hand, so I don't know The Wow Factor: Them pickups!! First of these pickups sound perfect to start off, they aren't muddy, they aren't one for feed back, they are just right for starting off. Secondly I think the pickup placement is cool, I don't really have much to say about that Overall: I have noticed the sc-208 and the h-208 are pretty much the same exact guitar. The only differences are the switch and pot placings, head stock, inlays, and pickup position. Brand new the h goes to $400 and the sc goes for $450. Now the only actual improvements I can really even see between the is the placement of the switch. Its an amazing soundsing and feeling guitar, it feels absolutely solid and not too heavy. The pickups are actually pretty good in all honesty. Its a great first 8 string and a great alternative to the h-208.
