I love the combination of a mahogany body and a maple fretboard (and light strings), but for some reason guitar makers shy away from this. I have made a couple of parts casters like this and I love them. I have always wanted a maple capped version. Considered making one myself. Then I came across the M-1000SE! This guitar is everything I wanted. The factory set up was very good. I just had to put a touch of bow in the neck. The neck is thin and fast, easily played all the way to the 24th fret. In my other guitars I use the Seymour Duncan TB-11 custom custom. So I thought I may have to swap out the Pearly gates for one. Not the case. This is the perfect pick up for the bridge position. If you like scooped out mids, this review may not help much. I am all about the mids. Attack this guitar and I can get all the sweet, drop tuned, palm muted, pinch harmonic, pick raking, hammer on pull off, dive bombing, sound I am looking for. The Jazz pick up is awesome as well. Alone, it makes for great rhythm sounds from the 70's-90's. Both pick ups on and you have awesome 70's lead. You can also split each pick up and get a twist on the blues. Personally, I probably won't be using that feature much, but it's good to have it there if I need it. The guitar was made exceptionally well. I cannot find a flaw anywhere. I use an over driven Marshall and 9-42 strings and like I a lot midrange. That said, I love this guitar. The only thing that may have made it better would have been the neck through read more like the white version. (That guitar has EMG's that I personally do not care for. ) Although I don't know how much more sustain you could get, it would look cooler.

Musical Background:
I have stage fright, but have played bass for over 20yrs and guitar for over 15yrs.

Musical Style:
Blues, rock to heavy metal from the 70's to present.
