What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Seymour Duncan Custom-5 bridge pickup Deep lows, slightly scooped mids; great for cleans
Seymour Duncan Jazz SH-2 neck pickup Moderate-output humbucker; articulate & clear tone
Alder body with flamed maple top Lightweight body with stunning flame grain
Gotoh Magnum locking tuners High ratio, firm tuning stability

Just because a guitar sounds heavy doesn't mean it has to weigh much. The ESP LTD Elite Horizon III takes the low-end capabilities of a longer scale neck-thru design, and keeps the weight off with an elegantly contoured body shape.

Sleek and Slim

ESP chose a design for its Horizon III NT that recalls the classic "Super Strat" shape, but adds a bite of metal with its wicked edges and thin design. The guitar's sides are cut very slim for weight relief and comfortable playing sessions, but the body gets gradually thicker toward the middle. A 25.5" scale length on the neck will appeal to players with larger hands -- or metalheads who love down-tuned riffage.

Stability From the Neck Down

The Horizon III NT is set apart from other shred-oriented guitars with its neck-through design. The maple neck is set into the body rather than being bolted on, which improves the guitar's sustain and tuning stability. The neck is carved in a speed-friendly thin-U profile, which helps your hands stretch out and really cover the ebony fretboard. A deep cutaway means reaching the second octave on the 24th fret doesn't have to feel like an odyssey.

As Clean or Raunchy as You Want

Though the looks of the Horizon III NT may offer an open invitation to crank the gain, the guitar's pickups allow you to run through a number of tonal choices. Both pickups are passive and won't overdrive a preamp too quickly, meaning you can control the gain output as you see fit. The Seymour Duncan Jazz humbucker read more in the neck is known for warm and thick sounds, but with clarity to keep up with fast players, and the Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge offers clear sounds with defined presence.
