I have been a Strat guy for over 30 years and am the proud owner of many choice pieces of Strat style guitars always meaning to one day own a Les Paul type guitar. Most all of my guitars all have a Floyd Rose or floating tremolo of some type as well so I have been looking at the Gibson equipped Floyd Rose models like the Axcess which are quite pricey. After playing a few non tremolo ESP EC-100's I realized that they played and sounded as good if not better than most of the Les Paul's which I have played over the years some of which are now near priceless. I saw a blemished ESP EC-100 on zZounds for a great price with a factory guarantee / warranty and decided to try it. At first it felt a bit stiff to me and after I changed the strings it took some time to get the Floyd Rose tremolo adjusted, it was dead on. I would put this guitar head to head with any Les Paul as far as tone and play ability and can only imagine what it will sound like as it ages over the years the way all of my other guitars have. I have never been an EMG fan but these sound very good however I suspect my tastes would be more in line with the Seymour JB's which come on some of the non tremelo EC-100s. This is a beautiful guitar...everyone falls in love with it and it can do some real damage thru my Mesa Boogie MK IIc+ and sustains forever with extremely smooth action. The harmonics are chimey clean and over driven while the intonation is balanced all the way up and all the way down. This guitar read more was supposed to be "blemished" and no one has been able to figure out where the guitar was blemished. I would not hesitate to buy this guitar again for full price...if you are reading this review, neither should you.
