Lloyd Loar's 1922 F-5 reborn and electrified. The Epiphone MM50E is truly the most amazing mandolin value available, accurate in every detail to its historic ancestor. The MM50E features a Solid Spruce top, Figured Maple back and sides, multi-bound pickguard, Nickel hardware and an electronic pickup.

One of a Kind Electronics

Designed in cooperation with Shadow Germany (makers of acoustic pickups for over 30 years), the MM50E starts with the Quad NanoMag pickup. The NanoMag is a unique, low-impedance humbucking pickup equipped with samariun-cobalt magnets that captures true acoustic tone and a wide range of harmonics. Under each string pair is a separate coil that only picks up the sound of that string pair with crosstalk separation of >85dB! Each of the 4 output levels is controlled by 4 trimpots discretely accessible from the top of the pickguard via a mini flathead screwdriver. Once set for to your desired levels, you would typically never need to adjust the levels again.

Tonal Versatility!

Rather than loading the mandolin down with electronics and adversely affecting its natural acoustic tone, the Shadow system puts all the electronics inside the pickguard. This allows the mandolin to respond and sound just like an acoustic mando should. On the pickguard are master volume, treble and bass rotary controls as well as an easy-access battery compartment using a light-weight, long lasting 2032 watch-style lithium battery.

Position the NanoMag Where YOU like it!

Even read more the pickup is mounted on the pickguard. But, for added versatility and to allow you to position it in the optimum location for your picking style, the NanoMag can slide back towards the bridge for a brighter tone or forward towards the neck for a warmer tone and anywhere in-between.

I have no idea what the other folks on here are talking about.... You get get what you pay for and there are good and bad foreign products. But this is worth 5 bills +. The craftsmanship isn't a 1950 Gibson but it has a nice tone and the pickup is true to the tone of the man-do.Only a couple of small things you need to address .......1.Who ever "sets up" the Mando needs to be taught how ( 4 Hrs to set it up right intonation was way off)2. The neck at the top is way to thin for my fat fingers...Other than that happy with my purchaseZzound always comes through for meThanks Guys and Gals
