What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Bigsby vibrato tailpiece Classic top-mount vibrato adds resonant mass
Epiphone SwingBucker pickups Slightly overwound for full jazz tone and sizzle
Fully hollow body Single tone chamber, resonant and alive sound
Hand-scalloped bracing Carved for maximum response; lightweight

Ideal for swing, rockabilly, and jazz, the Emperor Swingster continues Epiphone's long history of producing some of the best hollowbodies around. Building on the older Emperor models, the Emperor Swingster employs dual SwingBucker (tm) double-coil pickups which add some high-end sizzle to the traditional warmth of a humbucker. Combined with the arch-back maple body, the Emperor Swingster strikes an exceptional balance between treble bite and mid-range warmth in a guitar stylish enough to stand in the largest jazz orchestras.

Swinging Electronics

To achieve the distinct sound of the Emperor Swingster, Epiphone has developed the SwingBucker pickup to deliver outstanding tonal balance. These over-wound wonders add a bit brighter high-end to the smooth warmth of a traditional humbucker to give it that classic rockabilly edge. An added coil switching option makes it easy to engage either series and parallel pickup configurations whether going for a more full-bodied rhythm or a sharper single-coil solo tone. Rounding out its ample tone-crafting tool-kit, the Emperor Swingster sports a comfortable Bigsby-licensed B30 tremolo system which puts a full range vibrato in the palm of your hand.

Epiphone Emperor Swingster Guitar

Swing Like a Pro with the Epiphone Swingster

World famous for making some of the best and most innovative hollow-body guitars, Epiphone conjures up some of it's past with the Emperor Swingster. Starting with the same body and neck as used on their Emperor-II guitar and made famous by the jazz master himself, Joe Pass, Epiphone swings into action and turns it into a serious twangin', rock-a-billy slingin', country flingin' machine!

Classic Construction with SwingBucker Pickups

With it's hand-scalloped arched Spruce top combined with a laminated arched-back Maple body and glued-in 3-piece Hard Maple neck, the Swingster has what it takes to satisfy any professional's demand for great tone. At the heart of the guitar are Epiphone's SwingBucker(tm) pickups and a series/parallel electronics switching package that outperforms all others in it's class. Specially designed for the Swingster, the humbuckers offer no hum performance and feature classic Alnico-V magnets, enamel wire and over-wound coils for the perfect combination of warmth and bite.

Series/Parallel Switching

Two push/pull Tone controls allow you to change each pickup's output individually from parallel to series wiring creating a palette of useful sounds to tap into ranging from warm humbuckers to "quacky" single-coil type sounds and everything in-between. Of course, any swinging machine needs a vibrato and the Swingster is no exception featuring a Bigsby Licensed B30 with original style "wire" handle as preferred by "Certified Guitar Player" and legend, Chet Atkins.

But wait... there's MORE!

Unlike some, Epiphone spares no expense by adding a "pinned" tune-o-matic bridge with roller saddles for smooth operation and accurate return to pitch which is preferred when using a vibrato.

Loads of Bling

Topping it all off are Epiphone's trademark, multi-bound headstock with the classic mother-of-pearl "vine" inlay, premium Grover(tm) tuners and a multi-bound, 20 fret pau ferro fingerboard with block inlay. Gorgeous! And Epiphone stands behind every guitar they make with a Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson 24/7/365 Customer Service. If you're ready for a professional guitar with unique features and a killer price tag, swing into a Emperor Swingster today. Can you dig it? Oh yeah!

"Can a person love an inanimate object?"

I got this guitar after viewing A LOT of videos in YouTube and, without touching it or playing it, I knew I wanted it. The vast number of tones and the twangy sound was what I was looking for when I got my G5420T Gretsch.Unfortunately the electronics in that guitar left a lot to be desired. The tone pots were basically unusable and the pick ups, while nice and clean, had very little gain. And then the Swingster showed up. The following is my personal experience:AestheticsI got the Candy Red because my Gretsch is also red. Both are beautiful but the Swingster has the Flame top that makes it much more appealing. Also the headstock and neck decorations are very pretty. The binding looks nice and goes all the way around the contour of the guitar as well as the f holes. That is usually a place where you can see the quality of the work. Here you can see it is nice; not perfect, but nice. The Bigsby with the contoured arm screams for attention and compared to the flat arm on the G it is beautiful.I haven’t seen any flaws on the finish but I really haven’t looked that hard... after all, I enjoy looking at it, why bother looking for flaws? The one thing you must know... it is a pain in the kisster to keep it clean. The finish is NOT player friendly. The open tuners add to the appeal of the old school looks.Electronics:2 pick ups, neck and bridge. Each With volume and tone controls that can be used independently. Tone controls are push pull to get the PUs in SERIES or PARALLEL. Be aware read more that pulling or pushing the knobs DOES NOT split the PUs. Also be aware that when used in parallel, volume for any of the PUs becomes a MASTER VOLUME. If you lower the volume on one up, you lower both... weird... but that’s the way it works. Haven’t been able to ascertain whether tone works the same... I keep forgetting cause I get caught on the playing and truly I don’t care to be critical of it because it is VERY ENJOYABLE.The pick ups have a PHENOMENAL sound. There is this beautiful TWANG to them when played in series. No issues with the frets. Nice work and the neck is easy to play. Not sure about the nut. Need to find out the material, but at the other end we have a licensed Bigsby... great action and sound.So... to close: can a person love an inanimate object. I don’t know about you... don’t care really, but I sure am getting there.
