What's special about this product?
Features: What it does for you:
Bigsby vibrato tailpiece Classic top-mount vibrato adds resonant mass
Epiphone SwingBucker pickups Slightly overwound for full jazz tone and sizzle
Fully hollow body Single tone chamber, resonant and alive sound
Hand-scalloped bracing Carved for maximum response; lightweight
Ideal for swing, rockabilly, and jazz, the Emperor Swingster continues Epiphone's long history of producing some of the best hollowbodies around. Building on the older Emperor models, the Emperor Swingster employs dual SwingBucker (tm) double-coil pickups which add some high-end sizzle to the traditional warmth of a humbucker. Combined with the arch-back maple body, the Emperor Swingster strikes an exceptional balance between treble bite and mid-range warmth in a guitar stylish enough to stand in the largest jazz orchestras.

Swinging Electronics

To achieve the distinct sound of the Emperor Swingster, Epiphone has developed the SwingBucker pickup to deliver outstanding tonal balance. These over-wound wonders add a bit brighter high-end to the smooth warmth of a traditional humbucker to give it that classic rockabilly edge. An added coil switching option makes it easy to engage either series and parallel pickup configurations whether going for a more full-bodied rhythm or a sharper single-coil solo tone. Rounding out its ample tone-crafting tool-kit, the Emperor Swingster sports a comfortable Bigsby-licensed B30 tremolo system which puts a full range vibrato in the palm of your hand.

Features:

- Stylish finishes and rockabilly flair with trapezoidal inlays on neck and vine inlay on headstock
- Laminated arch-backed maple body
- Hand-scalloped bracing on select spruce top
- Bigsby-licensed B30 tremolo system
- Series/parallel pickup switching for expanded tonal control
- Epiphone SwingBucker pickups -- full jazz tone with rockabilly sizzle
- Epiphone limited lifetime warranty with 24/7/365 customer service

With its unique pickups and classic tremolo arm, the Epiphone Emperor Swingster carries enough tone potential to satisfy a wide range of genres. All in a guitar with a snazzy style and vintage vibe, the Emperor Swingster is a truly unique hollowbody.

Product Description

Swing Like a Pro with the Epiphone Swingster!
World famous for making some of the best and most innovative hollow-body guitars, Epiphone conjures up some of it's past with the Emperor Swingster. Starting with the same body and neck as used on their Emperor-II guitar and made famous by the jazz master himself, Joe Pass, Epiphone swings into action and turns it into a serious twangin', rock-a-billy slingin', country flingin' machine!

Classic Construction with SwingBucker Pickups!
With it's hand-scalloped arched Spruce top combined with a laminated arched-back Maple body and glued-in 3-piece Hard Maple neck, the Swingster has what it takes to satisfy any professional's demand for great tone. At the heart of the guitar are Epiphone's SwingBucker(tm) pickups and a series/parallel electronics switching package that outperforms all others in it's class. Specially designed for the Swingster, the humbuckers offer no hum performance and feature classic Alnico-V magnets, enamel wire and over-wound coils for the perfect combination of warmth and bite.

Series/Parallel Switching.
Two push/pull Tone controls allow you to change each pickup's output individually from parallel to series wiring creating a palette of useful sounds to tap into ranging from warm humbuckers to "quacky" single-coil type sounds and everything in-between. Of course, any swinging machine needs a vibrato and the Swingster is no exception featuring a Bigsby Licensed B30 with original style "wire" handle as preferred by "Certified Guitar Player" and legend, Chet Atkins.

But wait... there's MORE!
Unlike some, Epiphone spares no expense by adding a "pinned" tune-o-matic bridge with roller saddles for smooth operation and accurate return to pitch which is preferred when using a vibrato.

Loads of Bling.
Topping it all off are Epiphone's trademark, multi-bound headstock with the classic mother-of-pearl "vine" inlay, premium Grover(tm) tuners and a multi-bound, 20 fret Rosewood fingerboard with block inlay. Gorgeous! And Epiphone stands behind every guitar they make with a Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson 24/7/365 Customer Service. If you're ready for a professional guitar with unique features and a killer price tag, swing into a Emperor Swingster today. Can you dig it? Oh yeah!

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us. "Sexier than a witchy woman, smoother than blue velvet, sounds better than Maxwell's silverhammer!"
Sound: Extremely versital instrument, and an exceptional value. You can pay a lot more and get a lot less. Pretty too! Feature: Nicely set up out of the box. The push-pull pickup configuration switches are ingenious. Ease of Use: If you can't find a sound you want out of this with a good amplifier, you're lost in the valley of virtual infinite possibilities. Quality: Finish is excellent, inlays are very good. A couple of hardware mounting screws were crooked and required a minor fix, especially where the tailpiece attached to the body. Value: This is very much worth the price I paid, but I strongly object to the minimum advertised pricing policy of the manufacturer. You can get this for less, so the free market should dictate the price, not the maker. Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to use them. The Wow Factor: This just screams class and polish. Gorgeous instrument. Overall: I bought it for the long haul. The last new guitar I bought has been around since 1975. Hope this one lasts as long!

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us. "Stands apart from other guitars"
Overall: Where I live (Montana) nobody stocks guitars like this so playing it beforehand was not an option. I drooled over this instrument online for five months until I could order it. I looked at every photo I could find online, and have to say that the guitar in my hand was much darker orange than I was led to believe from the photos. Will say this about the photos in the ZZounds website, they leave a lot of room for improvement. When I picked it up out of the box for the first time, the little silver center of the tone knob fell off the guitar and had to use crazy glue to re-attach it to the knob. There was a "pimple" I guess you would call it of clear coat left ontop of the headstock, like the guitar was hung upside down for the clear coat to drip after application. I've always wanted a jazz guitar but never played one, here in Montana I'm like the only person in the state that plays jazz. The Swingster compared side by side with my neighbors PRS solidbody, the sound has a very broad depth to it and a quality of tone that the PRS couldn't touch. The PRS in comparison sounded institutional if you know what I mean. The series/parallel function of the pickups is something else I'm not used to in my 34 years of playing, but have to say it really adds to the sound quality. Also I have a huge problem with made in china (anything) was relieved a little when I saw the made in Indonesia sticker on it. Overall there are some finishing issues (like the clear coat drip) that will have to be taken care of ( I have a little OCD obsessive compulsive problem ) I plan on replacing the black bell knobs with clear amber knobs, but otherwise I'm satisfied. It does play very well, and my neighbor whose been playing longer than I have 40+ years likes it as well. I've offered to let him use it on his next album.
