The Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 represents the evolution of the classic Riviera electric guitar -- now with completely updated electronics and hardware. It is carved in a semi-hollow body design, true to the original fit and finish of the Riviera that become popular in the 1960s, now with the slightly more friendly SlimTaper neck for the most effortless and exhilarating playing experience possible. The classic triple-pickup system has also been revised, with new electronics throughout.

Ever-So-Slightly Updated Specs

The Riviera Custom P-93 is made from a laminated maple top that yields maximal sustain and resonance. The mahogany center block gives it punch and power, while the hand-glued mahogany neck gives a feeling of true solidity. This neck, incidentally, is carved into a SlimTaper D-shape profile that you're likely to find far smoother and more forgiving the fatter necks of the original Rivieras. The 22 stainless steel medium-jumbo frets in a pau ferro fingerboard feel great under the fingers! Pearloid parallelogram inlays on 9 frets channel elegant vintage style.

Three Powerful P-90 Pickups

Over the years, the Riviera has seen numerous pickup configurations. Today, Epiphone's luthiers have outfitted this axe with 3 x "dog-ear" Alnico-V P-90 that offer a wide range of tones when used in different combinations -- and pack a hell of a punch when used together! They'll give you the clean , bell-like tones appropriate for jazz and some pop music -- but if you want to read more plug these into a crunch pedal and half stack, this guitar will have your back. The electronics include full-size 1-inch 500K pots and an all-metal pickup selector switch. The output jack is super-heavy-duty steel.

Controls on the Riviera Custom P include volume pots for each pickup and a Master Tone pot. The toggle switch controls the neck and bridge pickups like they would on a two-pickup electric, while the middle pickup is controlled via its Volume control.

Bigsby on Board

Last but not least, the Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 gives you a Bigsby B70 tremolo to give your playing a whole range of expression. The LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and the high-quality Wilkinson 14:1 ratio tuning machines up top will keep your intonation square while you wail on that bar!

Epiphone LTD ED Riviera Custom 93 Guitar

The Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 is modeled after one of Epiphone's most enduring classics, the Riviera. First introduced in the early '60s, the Epiphone Riviera's semi-hollow design has been a favorite of players from all genres and generations including blues great Otis Rush, Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground, and The Strokes' Nick Valensi, who have all found that the Riviera's legendary ES-body shape could produce great tones with any pickup variation. Over the years, the Riviera has been seen with humbuckers, mini-humbuckers, and P-90s. But now the Custom P-93 has the rare distinction of giving players a fresh sound and a distinctive look.

The Riviera Custom P-93 uses 3 Epiphone "Dogear" Alnico-V P-90 pickups for a punch that leaves all other three-single coil pickup guitars in the dust. And when matched with the bell-like tones of the ES-style body, a Bigsby(R) B70 tremolo, plus a stunning Metallic Gold finish with nickel hardware or a Wine Red finish with gold hardware, the Riviera Custom P93 truly becomes one of the era's great instruments.

Semi-Hollow Design, Solid Craftsmanship

The Riviera Custom P-93 is constructed of premium laminated maple with a mahogany center block and a hand-fitted, glued-in mahogany 24.75" scale neck with a SlimTaper(TM) "D" profile and 22 medium jumbo frets with a 1.68" nut for great string spacing and intonation. Other details include a pau ferro fingerboard with pearloid parallelogram inlays, quality electronic parts including full-size 1" 500K Ohm potentiometers, Epiphone's all-metal pickup selector switch, a '60s era Epiphone logo on the headstock, and a heavy-duty output jack.

Ground Breaking Electronics

The Riviera Custom P93's fabulous semi-hollowbody sound is voiced by three Epiphone "Dogear" classic P-90 pickups with Alnico V magnets. Controls include 3 individual Volume pots (for each pickup) and 1 Master Tone. The all-metal toggle works as it would with a 2-pickup guitar with the rhythm position activating the neck pickup and the lead toggle position activating the bridge pickup. The middle pickup can be used in any position by adjusting its volume control.

Hardware

The Riviera Custom P93 comes in Metallic Gold with nickel hardware or Wine Red with gold hardware which even extends to the premium 14:1 ratio Wilkinson machine heads which provide superior tuning stability and accuracy. Also included as standard equipment on the Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 is Epiphone's exclusive LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge plus a legendary Bigsby B70 tremelo.

The Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 is protected by Epiphone's famous Epiphone Limited Lifetime Warranty featuring Gibson 24/7/365 Customer Service which guarantees the instrument against defects in materials or workmanship.

The WOW factor is there as soon as you open the box. From the deep rich Finish that lets the wood grain show through, to the finely crafted accents. Smooth neck and user friendly fret board. IT's all about the wow man. I chose the Riviera over a Les Paul custom. In my mind I did the right thing with this one.
