Epiphone Les Paul Express Electric Guitar

No longer available at zZounds
Perfect for small hands and younger players, the Les Paul Express delivers killer tone and a solid build so you can play your best from your first note.

The Epiphone Les Paul Express electric guitar gives any player the opportunity to get their hands around the classic Les Paul sound, no matter the size of their hands (or their budget!). Great as a travel instrument, the Les Paul Express is fitted with a 22" scale neck -- almost three inches shorter than a full-size Les Paul -- cut to a SlimTaper profile which makes it easy to hold. The Les Paul Express' body cutaway and shorter scale length make it easy for you to reach every fret all the way up the neck. This makes this mini-sized Epiphone Les Paul perfect for players with small hands, or anyone who needs an electric guitar that's easy to stash and carry at a moment's notice.

Innovating on a Classic: Mahogany Body, Maple Neck and Dual Humbuckers

Instead of just shrinking down a full-size Les Paul, Epiphone has outfitted the Les Paul Express with unique features that make ideal use of its reduced size and innovate on the standards that have made the Les Paul one of the most recognizable guitars in the world. The body of the Express is made out of mahogany, which is typical of a Les Paul, while the bolt-on neck is made out of hard maple, a wood with a brighter tone that makes up for the looser string tension that comes with the shorter scale. This, in combination with dual humbucking pickups made with Alnico magnets that provide the bite and crunch associated with the Les Paul, give the Express a well-rounded and full tone, unique among Les Pauls but still blaring the read more classic tone and mojo of the guitars that have come before it.

Full-Scale Features: Fixed String-Thru Bridge and Premium Tuners

The Les Paul Express is a short-scale guitar, but Epiphone hasn't skimped on the features -- including a fixed, string-through bridge that provides excellent sustain and also makes string replacement easy and fast. The Express also features premium 14:1 ratio die-cast tuners that are easy to get in tune and stay in tune.

Features:

- 22" neck scale length, perfect for smaller hands and on-the-go players
- SlimTaper neck profile makes the guitar easy to hold for any size player
- Mahogany body with a bolt-on hard maple neck
- 650R humbucker neck pickup and 700T humbucker bridge pickup, both made with Alnico magnets
- Premium 14:1 ratio diecast tuners for tuning stability

Epiphone's Les Paul Express is the perfect fit for any player that's just picking up the guitar for the first time, or an experienced player who's in need of a solid road-warrior guitar that won't let them down. Les Pauls have a history of being some of the most versatile and popular guitars, used by Jimmy Page, Slash, and Zakk Wylde, to name only a few, and the Express is a great choice to set a new player out on their own Les Paul adventure.

Epiphone Les Paul Express

Epiphone's Les Paul Express captures the look, sound and feel of traditional Les Pauls in a slightly smaller package that's perfect for younger players or for travel use. The neck's scale length is only 22" as compared to 24.75" on a full-size Les Paul, and its upper frets are easy to reach thanks to the body cutaway.

The result is a guitar that's more comfortable to play -- especially in smaller hands -- while still maintaining good string tension when tuned to standard "E."

Small Body, Fully Functional

Epiphone has incorporated unique design features into this small powerhouse. Bolted to the body is a hard maple neck, which gives the guitar a little more high-end "bite" to offset the slightly looser string tension due to the shorter scale length. The combination of the fully-adjustable "fixed" bridge with a string-through body design fits well on the smaller size body while adding sustain and making string changes a breeze.

Premium Hardware and Electronics

With the slightly looser string tension, it's even more important to have great tuners. Epiphone designed the Express with premium, 14:1 ratio diecast tuners to give you excellent tuning accuracy and stability.

The Les Paul Express features an Epiphone 650R humbucker in the neck position and an Epiphone 700T in the bridge position. Both pickups feature Alnico pickups that give you an incredible variety of tone colors and sounds.

"A very nice Les Paul, for such a low price!"

Firstly, to stabilize the tuning properly of an electric guitar, you must “stretch” the strings, by lifting the guitar by it’s new set of strings. You’ll have to re-tune the guitar after you institute this “old school” method a few times, and even if the tuners are not the best around, the guitar will hold it’s intonation. You should also push the strings along the fretboard with your fingers, to create the standard Blues and Rock tremolo/vibrato style. Let’s face it, this guitar is not “top shelf”, but it serves it’s purpose beautifully! A good all around gigging and practicing axe, and lightweight as well! More importantly, it has great tone, (no matter what the prima donnas’ and guitar snobs suggest). As far as the frets go, I can live with slight sharpness on the edges, and it’s no big deal. It’s great to have a good knock-around guitar, that you can take to gigs, and not have to worry about it being stolen. I’ve bought a number of low budget Epi Pauls over the years, and never was embarrassed playing them on stage. By the way, if you are a good player, you can get away with any cheap guitar as your main axe, or part of your collection! I love it, play it, and recommend it! Get yourself one!!!
