For the Epiphone Company of 1961, the Casino was a small breakthrough. After the merger with Gibson in 1957, Epiphone no longer made jazz archtops. A new era of music had arrived. The introduction of the Casino was a modern design that announced that Epiphone was ready to begin a new chapter in its long and unique history. Though from a distance the Casino had the look of an ES-335, the Casino was a true hollowbody that gave players a clear, ringing tone that could be pushed into overdrive when needed. The Casino was an ideal guitar for stage and studio and can be heard on many landmark recordings including The Beatles' "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" and The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds."

Maybe it's purely coincidental that at the same time the Casino was in its planning stages at Epiphone headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the Beatles were starting out, too. By 1964, the Beatles were stars and when Paul McCartney went shopping for a new guitar that could give him the overdriven blues sound of artists like Otis Rush, he reached for a Casino. John Lennon and George Harrison soon bought their own and used their Casinos on stage and at Abbey Road throughout the band's career. Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys, Paul Weller of the Jam, and Noel Gallagher of Oasis are just a few of the players who made great records with Casinos. And now with the Elitist Casino, you can, too!

As with every Epiphone, the Elitist Casino also comes with the peace of mind you get from a Limited Lifetime read more Warranty backed by Gibson Musical Instruments' famous 24/7/365 day Customer Service. Make your own history today with an Epiphone Casino.

The Epiphone Elitist 1965 Casino represents how good an electric guitar can be.

Sound
The hollow body design of the Casino makes it useful for unplugged practice or, plug it in for a versatile range of tones from the Gibson USA-made P90 pickups. Nails the iconic sounds of jazz, blues, and (of course) classic rock.

Features
The Epiphone Elitist Casino features a 5 ply maple hollow body, spruce bracing, a slim mahogany neck, 22 frets, single coil Gibson P90 pickups, premium electronics and wiring, and a light coat of poly finish. Mine came in flawless vintage sunburst with a fit and finish quality uncommon outside of custom shops and boutique builders. This guitar is built to last a lifetime and sound great the whole time.

Ease of Use
The tone of the instrument is well worth the price of admission. Standard four controls and three-way switch make this guitar feel like an old friend. The hollow body is light and resonant which adds a unique texture to the great voice of the P90s. It's hard not to sound good on this guitar. The thin neck is instantly comfortable and highly playable. String transition and fingerboard runs are a breeze.

Quality
The build quality of this instrument is world class.

Value
You may prefer the Gibson headstock. A comparable guitar by Gibson costs only a little more. You really can't go wrong either way. read more For me, I had to have a real Casino and I could care less for the brand (I already have a bunch of Gibsons). This guitar is absolutely as good as any Gibson.

Manufacturer Support
Gibson/ Epiphone and zZounds have always helped in the past.

The Wow Factor
Lots of brilliant artists have played Casinos over the decades. That may boost the appeal of this guitar for some. For me, it is great in its own right as a unique instrument that will find many nights of gig use and many days of studio work.

Musical Background:
Many years semi-pro
