Epiphone presents the Electar Inspired by "1939" Century Lap Steel Outfit, a one-of-a-kind reissue of the Art Deco styled Hawaiian lap steel guitar originally designed by Herb Sunshine, Epiphone's legendary salesman, electronics developer, and a good friend of founder Epi Stathopoulo.

Herb Sunshine was one of Epi Stathopoulo's key employees at the "House of Stathopoulo" headquarters in New York and helped to inspire Epiphone to become the leading name in affordable professional instruments.

"Epi's father had brought over their Greek traditions from the old country and Epi was just carrying on where the old man had left off. They had terrific pride. Epi personally examined every guitar and banjo," Sunshine told Epiphone historian Jim Fisch "We called electric guitars and amplifiers "Electar" which is a name I coined."

Don't expect to take it out of the box and play it. After you do a couple things it is a really nice sounding and playing lap steel. Here is what I did:1 First off do not even try to tune it with the factory strings. Order some GHS C6 for Hawaiian or country, or E tuning strings for other with the guitar. Myself I like the C6 strings on this guitar a lot.2 The nut grooves may need to have a few swipes with a file to deepen them a tad so the middle strings stay in place.3 Deposit the pickup cover with the factory strings and put the screws back in the holes. Its for show only. Now you can do palm muting and your hand rests nicely. Now you have a really nice sounding lap steel. The string spacing at the nut is wide where it is suppose to be. Easy to dip your tone bar for notes and room for finger picks between the stings. Don't get all crazy and send it back. You will regret it. This guitar sounds beautiful.
