Epiphone AJ10 Acoustic Guitar Customer Review

Quality:
The wine red finish is lovely. There is a minor factory blemish, but other than that it's simply gorgeous. I still cannot believe the price/quality ratio on this guitar...it's amazing.

Value:
I played a number of acoustic guitars (at least 8) in the 150-200 dollar price range. The 2 best sounding guitars were both Epiphones.

Sound:
The sound of this instrument at this price is simply amazing. It sounds as nice as guitars 5 times it's price. Big, bold ringing sustain, very warm overtones, simply wonderful.

Overall:
I expect to keep this guitar for a long time.

"The best value in acoustic guitars."

Feature:
This is a basic medium body acoustic guitar but with great sound. The 25" Rosewood fretboard withstands hours upon hours of playing and ages into a dark warm ebony tone. My frets have shown little wear. The machine heads are standard Epiphones that I tune/detune every time I play the guitar. You may want to upgrade the machine heads but mine haven't worn out yet.

Quality:
My AJ10 is the Ebony black model. Its finish is very nice but requires a high quality oil polish to keep it gleaming(shows fingerprints easily but takes a lot to scratch). The factory finish is very durable and feels a bit thicker then a similar Gibson model. This guitar also feels a bit heavier then a Gibson but still produces wonderful tones due to the spruce top and mahogany body. Looks good in the corner of your den but you have no problem packing it up to take camping. IN fact I consider this guitar the ideal campfire acoustic. Its price matched with quality, sound, and durability make this a very carefree guitar to own and use.

Value:
This product is almost unbelievably cheap. Big value!

Desirability:
Mine is a mad sexy Ebony black that would look good in Johny Cash's hands.

Sound:
For the price of this product I should give it a 10 in sound quality but since I would consider a Martin a 10 I have to setlle on an 8. When I purchased my Epiphone AJ10 I was actually in the market for a dreadnought Gibson but after playing the AJ10 I thought this would suite me fine for having fun on and the price is down right cheap. I believe they may have discontinued this guitar so it may only be found in limited supply. The AJ10 has a solid spruce top and mahogany body like guitars costing 5-times more. Its sounds just as good as a Gibson, the only difference is that many of you may not like the factory setup on his model. I was back to the shop where I bought it the same day I purchased it to have the action lowered and slightly widened. After that in all honesty you have a Gibson. You can get that rockin' Gibson sound when you play chords hard unlike other acoustic guitars but then can slow down and play classical Arpeggio that sings like the heavens. Arpeggio and R+B both suite this guitar equally well. I've also since gone to a lighter set of strings to suite my taste but most others will find standard strings with a low action more then sufficient on this guitar. I would highly recommend this guitar to the beginning student but the middle aged veterin player can pick one up to take camping without regret. Epiphone continues to produce instruments for the people, not for profit.

Support:
I had the action lowered, however I've seen a more rescent production of this model then mine and it seems that the action is lower then mine was when I bought it, maybe Epiphone got some letters stating what I am and took recourse.

Overall:
It would take a long time if ever to want to sell this guitar. It could be kept for friends or family to accompany you on at the very least.
