Dunlop CSP210 Sub Machine Octave Fuzz Pedal

No longer available at zZounds
Indulge in fuzz/octave goodness with this fun pedal. Combine tasty fuzz sounds via the La Machine circuit with a powerful sub octave signal for fat tone.

The MXR Sub Machine Fuzz kicks open the door to epic and unbridled sonic exploration. This mean little box combines the shaggy vintage tones of the La Machine Fuzz with a growling sub octave circuit, giving you a one way ticket to the sonic frontiers of heavy.

The Sub Machine Fuzz features the La Machine Fuzz's circuitry and all of its functions, from its Volume, Tone, and Fuzz controls to its electrifying octave up mode. The MXR Custom Shop team upped the ante by adding an old school sub octave circuit with its own level control, so you can dial in just the right mix of fuzz and sub octave signals.

To further broaden the Sub Machine Fuzz's thunderous tonal palette, the Custom Shop team added a Series switch so you can run the sub octave signal straight into the fuzz for subterranean saturation, or alongside the fuzz for a split channel effect.

The Sub Machine Fuzz features true bypass switching and comes in a sturdy, road-ready housing with components to match.

Features:

- Combines La Machine Fuzz with old school Sub-Octave signal
- True bypass
- Volume, Tone, Fuzz and Sub controls
- Sub octave circuit
- Toggle between Series/Parallel modes

This fuzz is a lot of fun! For a long time I liked the idea of an Octave-up fuzz sound. Then I heard about this pedal and was immediately convinced. In can be a difficult pedal to dial in depending on you're rig and took me a while of tinkering, but this pedal quickly found a place on my board.

Sound
This pedal produces fuzz in copious amounts. the fuzz sound is nice and full and sounds really natural and not so processed like some fuzzes can be. The octave up is the same and is great because you can get the octave from playing nearly anywhere on the neck. Playing chords in the octave-up mode just sounds like a big, gross mess, but that's not unexpected.

Features
The sub knob and octave footswitch are a lot of fun and can produce awesome, full sounds. The series/parallel button is a great feature to get some fuzz from the bass end, but is difficult to dial in. In parallel, the sub octave kicks in right away and is already plenty at 8 o'clock, and in series, the sub octave needs to be cranked to get a workable bass octave fuzz. Just find your sweet spot.

Ease of Use
Fuzz is all this thing does, so if you're looking for a light breakup fuzz, this isn't for you. There's lots of fuzz even with the knob turned all the way down, and after about 10 o'clock on the fuzz and volume knobs, there's very little audible fuzz and volume change. The sweep on both knobs maxes out pretty quick on this read more pedal, but, again, not a subtle fuzz box.

Quality
The box is a sparkley-purple... If you can get past that, everything else is great, it's been going strong back and forth for 2 month now, but looks and feels like it'll keep going for quite a while.

Value
This was exactly the fuzz I was looking for the best price I could find in any other fuzz, so, for me, totally worth it.

Manufacturer Support
I've had MXR pedals before and had to send one in. Customer support was efficient and friendly enough for my standards so no worries there.

The Wow Factor
This pedal really sticks out as it is and, looking closer, does a lot of things that I hadn't seen on any other similar pedals. I like options that are easy to access and if you do too, this is a great pedal.
