About Dean Guitars
Dean Guitars was born in 1976, in the attic of the Chicago suburban childhood home of company founder Dean B. Zelinsky. The 18-year-old Zelinsky was convinced that guitar design and manufacturing had hit a wall. Rock music was huge and guitar makers were failing to keep up with the times. The world was ready for a guitar that looked, played, and sounded superior to what was available from manufacturers at that time. Zelinsky had a better idea.

What followed was a line of electric guitars that for the first time allowed players to play to their potential. With its highly visible V-shaped headstock and trademark wing logo, Dean became in effect, the first boutique guitar line in the history of rock music.

These guitars had to be played to be believed, and played they were! Dean guitars started showing up on rock stages worldwide, album covers, and especially on the newly emerging channel called "MTV." Dean Guitars were featured in the award-winning "MTV Video of the Year" 3 of the first 4 years running. By the time Dean created the famous Spinning Fur Guitars, Dean's early place in Rock history was firmly cemented.

Over a quarter century later, you can still buy that same USA made boutique Dean Guitar. Today, Dean Guitars has taken that same concept of creating a superior instrument to a whole new level. Dean is now a full line of fretted instruments including electric and acoustic guitars, basses, jazz guitars, resonators, banjos and mandolins. "Best product for the money."

Sound: i just bought it today and it sounds great. I already have a $7000 gibson but needed one to carry in my truck for emergency playing. I bought a second mandolin for $800 but sent it back because it didn't have sound. I then tried this cheap mandolin and it was just great. I love it and it was less expensive by $700.
