Rockman Metal Ace Headphone Amplifier

No longer available at zZounds
Add some distortion to your sound that won't annoy the neighbors. This headphone amp lets you shred though all hours of the night.

Dunlop's quieter, smaller re-design of the Rockman Ace with improved headphones, circuitry, and gating action lets you hear your instrument's dynamic range and clarity to inspire you to "pick up your guitar and play." These high-quality, low-priced headphone amps offer built-in compression, volume control, and auxiliary stereo input/output. The Metal Ace adds more distortion bite to the sound than the Guitar Ace. Runs on 9V battery or optional ECB05 adapter.

- Silently practice anywhere
- Built-in compression
- Volume control and auxiliary stereo input/output
- Tone controls
- Similar to the sound of the Guitar Ace, but with more metal edge

I got a more versatile practice amp for about a little over twice the cost of this Rockman, but it was worth every penny. The only reason I would use this Rockman is for playing in the airport, testing a guitar where they do not have an amp, etc.
Sound
It has your basic clean and distortion sounds, but no real variety. There are better mini-amps for less.
Features
There are better mini-amps (with its own tiny speakers, with more than one knob for the volume) for less. Take the Marshall Miniamp, for example. There are others. None are great but they fulfil their purpose and they do not fetch the premium price the Rockman seems to be getting.
Quality
Power jack is loose and basically keeps one from playing with an external power source. Considering it's a portable amp without its own speaker, it's rather large.
Value
No, worth maybe half, or even a third. Rockmans were an innovation back in the day, but its time is basically past now, especially at this quality/feature level
Manufacturer Support
Have not had dealings with them.
The Wow Factor
Basically like a black plastic Cracker Jack box...
