Casio PX-150 Privia Digital Piano

No longer available at zZounds

The Casio PX-150 represents a significant step in the continuing evolution of the Privia digital piano line. A combination of balanced keyboard action and a powerful sound engine provide a level of detail, nuance, and expression for a superior grand piano experience in the lightweight and stylish design that Privia is known for.

Piano Sound

The award-winning grand piano sound in the Privia has been dramatically improved. The PX-150 utilizes more than three-times the memory of the previous generation for a more natural piano tone. In addition, Casio's proprietary sound source "AiR" (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) provides unmatched realism and detail. This engine provides seamless dynamics for a remarkably expressive and powerful performance. For further realism, the Damper Resonance simulator provides the rich sound of the strings when the sustain pedal is used.

Key Action

The PX-150 also features a redesigned 88-note Tri-sensor scaled hammer action keyboard. This action features simulated Ebony and Ivory textured keys for a incredible feel, and its three sensors capture the dynamics of a performance with unparalleled speed and accuracy. To further enhance the experience, the action and the sound engine take into consideration the speed at which different-sized hammers move inside an acoustic grand relative to velocity the keys are pressed.

Powerful Features

In additional to grand piano, the PX-150 has many other instrument tones including strings, read more organs, electric pianos, and bass. The PX-150 provides split and layer capability, allowing you to play bass with your left hand and have two layered tones with your right hand. Duet mode splits the keyboard into two equal ranges, allowing a student and their teacher to use the piano simultaneously. A two track recorder can even record and play back your practice and performances. The optional CS-67 stand puts the PX-150 at the proper height, and the optional SP-33 pedal system provides the same 3-pedal functionality as a grand piano.

USB MIDI

Casio continues the tradition or providing "class compliant" USB connectivity on Privia digital pianos. This allows Privia to be used with Mac or Windows computers without the need for downloading drivers. Class Compliant USB MIDI also allows Privia digital pianos to be used as a controller for the Apple iPad, with the use of Apple's Camera Connection Kit.

NOTE: Power Adapter is included.

I was looking for a reasonably priced fully weighted "piano feel" MIDI controller keyboard to use in my studio with the spectacular Ivory piano computer program. Internal sounds didn't matter to me. The Privia did not disappoint! I've been a professional pianist/keyboardist since the early 70s, playing many keyboards of every variety and in the realm of "piano feel" boards, this is the best I've ever played, far surpassing the Yamaha and Kawai it replaces. Those keyboards were WAY more expensive. Excellent responsiveness, key bounce, etc . . really responds when you get incredibly light or really dig in. Matched Ivory perfectly for feel, with no tweaking of responsiveness or velocity, etc. needed. But I received a bonus. The internal pianos are WONDERFUL! Really a great sounding, great feeling piano, and an incredible bargain! Production is what I do, and I would not hesitate to use the internal pianos on a project or a gig. If I don't want to power my whole room up, I can simply turn it on and practice my piano on its own. The internal speakers aren't the best, but more than adequate for that use. In headphones, it's wonderful. It has no line outs, but the headphone out is essentially line level. The other sounds are OK, but as with most digital "pianos", they're not tweakable and the organs, etc don't feel right with a weighted keyboard. The electric pianos are OK, but the Wurlitzer is a standout. And at 25 lbs, you can easily take it to gigs. All in all, a wonderful feeling, sounding, read more lightweight digital grand. And at half a grand, an insane value! Go Casio!
