"In Love with a Breedlove"
Sound:
As soon as I walked into my local Guitar Center, I headed into the acoustic room, and the Breedlove was the first guitar I picked up. It was on the wall with Martin's and Taylors twice it's price but shone above them all. The action, the features, the size, the looks, and mainly the sound told me I had to have this guitar. Fast forward to me walking in with my Jaguar and a couple hundred in cash and still falling short, I decided maybe it was time I signed my life away in a high interest store credit card. But alas! Zzounds had my guitar, and gave me the option to split the payment into four without cornering me into debt! I ordered that day, and got the guitar the next! A brand new guitar, not one that every Joe Schmuck scratched up. But, to be on topic, the exotic woods used in this guitar give it a huge sound from a parlor sized guitar. Plugged in sound is great, but no plugged in sound will beat a properly mic'd guitar and this thing shimmers in recordings, I barely have to EQ a thing! Everyone of my friends that picks this guitar up has a hard time giving it back!
Feature:
The guitar came double boxed in a gig bag, the gig bag is pretty solid, but because of my deep affection for this guitar it went right into a hard case. The battery and 1/4 are on the bottom, and the fact that the 1/4 jack is in the strap-button is pretty nifty. Speaking of strap-button's, the other is on the back of the neck's bottom, angled and such. It hangs like an electric, and I really dig that because it feels more natural for my playing style. The built in tuner light's up bright and is more accurate than the $20 special Korg I was using before.
Ease of Use:
This is the best playing acoustic I have ever picked up under $2500, and the price difference is phenomenal!
Quality:
When I first got the guitar out, someone pointed out the knots in the Sitka and thought they were blemishes. After a good laugh, I played the guitar and their jaw dropped. I plan on making this guitar last a lifetime.
Value:
This guitar is worth every penny, if it were made in the U.S. it would sell for twice as much.
Manufacturer Support:
I have no plan on dealing with Breedlove anytime soon, at least until I've saved enough for a Masterclass with a similar build to this guitar.
The Wow Factor:
It doesn't have some of the sharper looks of the U.S. Breedloves, but the Sitka and Bubinga look, well, sexy.
Overall:
I constantly try to upgrade things. In the category of acoustic guitars, I'm done for a long time.

"Best Bang for the Buck!"
Sound:
I'm rating this guitar's sound a 10 based on it's price when compared with other guitars in the 500 to 1000 price range...
However, Please keep in mind that my idea of the perfect sounding guitar is a hand made all wood Spanish classical, that starts in the $3,000 price range... So that translates into my favorite steel string, as and the only Martin I personally would play which is a Eric Clapton, or again in the $3,000 price range, also all Gibsons priced over $2,000, Taylor is nice but again I only want the ones over $2,000. Breedlove however is the only sound that I like on less expensive models, and in the past each guitar was an individual as far as easy of playability! For example: Two Breedlove Guitars same model, one I love to play the other I didn't??? Now perhaps that is because it was always at a local big store that probably doesn't have a clue how to set up instruments at least now that I'm thinking about it I'm sure that could be possible? But again in the past it was only the ones over $1,100. that I liked. However as far as just the sound goes the Breedlove is and was my favorite...I just love their sound. so Please keep that in mind first... Please Go to a local store and make sure that Breedlove is the sound that speaks to you! Guitars are like women every body likes something a little different, doesn't make it better or worse just different!
So enough of qualifying my comments to come, and having said all of that above when it comes to the sound of this guitar, I'll start by saying this in a steel string balanced tone is just hard to find at any price! This guitar has it at $599... Now it's too small, and the back and sides are laminate, so it's not loud! but it's adequate, However, if you play live and unplugged ... Well then this guitar isn't for you!
So the tone is rich, and surprisingly full, very surprising and Very very nice and for such a small, and mind blowing for such low priced guitar!
Feature:
10 for the price range... The Solid Sitka Spruce top seems nicely responsive... what really stands out is that the mid & bass response is excellent for a laminate! The back and sides are Laminated Bubinga, however, it's so good I had to check with Breedlove and found out that it's all Bubinga in the laminate, so there are no fillers or particle board, in fact they said they used a three piece laminate, all Bubinga... and unless they've just got the perfect design, I'm reasonably sure that's what creates such great bass and mid range responses!
Ease of Use:
The playability is lovely! Way way beyond what you normally find in a guitar in this price range! ... Easy to fret, even when you haven't played in a while, which is something very different from many guitars in much higher price ranges... The tuner is very nice and accurate! Haven't plugged in yet so jury is still out there!
Quality:
Rated 10 in this price range ... Quality seems as good as anything that I've played in this price range such as a Seagull Anniversary for example... this is a very nice guitar; however, I've only had it a couple of weeks and therefore would have to guess that it's equal or better than most Guitars in this price range, or better, but really only time will tell me?
Value:
The best I've found in this price range keep in mind that the only Martin I really like is the Eric Clapton version, and I love Gibson but hey way over priced...I recommend this guitar without reservation for people who want balance and can't afford to spend more than 800 dollars! Gig gag is just for basic protection, very thin but much better than nothing!
Manufacturer Support:
Breedlove ... The people there were just awesome they were easy to reach and very easy to talk too! approachable! just wonderful!
The Wow Factor:
I need it, and own it! I think it's going to be my main stay for daily playing... On stage I think I'll play my Godin's but who knows?
Overall:
Again if I could afford one of the high end guitars that I listed above I would have bought one! However, for the money, it's the best I've found! But again you have to love Breedlove to feel this way, go play one and make sure! it you like it better than anything else then buy it! As I consider the tone and playability of this guitar to be way beyond any other guitar in this price range! Period!
