Legacy Dreadnought- Cocobolo adds sonic and visual depth to this spirited, Sitka-topped Breedlove dreadnought.

Summary

The Legacy Dreadnought is instilled with character and spirit that will carry on for generations. Built upon the tonal strength of cocobolo, it tends to offer more pronounced and articulate lows than Indian rosewood.

Body

The Breedlove Dreadnought is slightly more rounded than traditional dreadnoughts, producing beautifully full, punchy, and articulate tones. The Dreadnought appeals to players inspired by the familiarity of a dreadnought who are looking for nuance and richness from their instrument. The Breedlove Dreadnought projects well, so it excels in an ensemble, and yet retains the refinement needed for vocal accompaniment.

Top Wood

Sitka spruce is grown in the Pacific Northwest, and has been the primary top wood for U.S.A. instruments for many decades. It is strong and light with extended harmonic content, and nearly equals the power of Adirondack.

Back and Side Wood

Cocobolo is dark and dense, with a bright, clear, sustaining voice and a tone that is very similar to the best rosewood.

Graduated Top

"Because no two tops are exactly the same, our graduation process allows us to get the most response from the guitar's top while retaining structural integrity. Once we've selected the perfect top wood for a specific instrument, we evaluate each and every top for flexibility, and then graduate each piece of wood, so it is slightly read more thinner on the bass side. The amount of graduation is customized for each individual instrument, dependent on the relative stiffness of the top.

This process essentially makes every Breedlove a one-of-kind. Knowing your Breedlove was built with this intentional care and discernment, you can rest assured that the instrument is performing at its highest potential, and focus on what you do best: creating, expressing, and getting the most out of your music."

Neck

"Breedlove craftsmen often say, "No neck feels better than a Breedlove neck." They may be a bit biased, but industry insiders agree. Here's our big secret: hands-on sculpting. After basic machining, each Breedlove neck goes through a comprehensive, build and finish process, starting with the hand shaping of each and every neck. Next, the perfectly sculpted neck heads into the finish process where it receives a wash coat and sealer. Then, over a three-day period, multiple finish coats are applied, and the neck is level sanded. In the final stage, we perfect the finish by hand-buffing it and rubbing it down to achieve exactly the right thickness for perfect action and playability."

Wonderful guitar. Plays great and beautiful to look at. Sounds terrific, too, with a bit of that cocobola growl to the bass and midrange, yet well balance. Workmanship is unequaled.
