Countless guitar heroes have embraced the rotary-speaker sound on stage and in the studio. With this in mind, BOSS proudly announced the newest member of its Twin-Pedal family: the RT-20 Rotary Sound Processor. Employing COSM modeling technology, the RT-20 authentically reproduces classic rotary speaker sounds, and beyond. It offers adjustable Rise Time, Horn and Bass speed, and Overdrive -- and not just for classic twirl -- the RT-20 can be used to create unique overdrive and pulsating effects as well. This pedal also offers a stunning graphical view of the virtual rotors on its built-in display.

Years of intensive research and development have made Roland and BOSS world leaders in modeling technology. Roland's breakthrough Composite Object Sound Modeling (COSM) uses the advantages of multiple modeling methods, and succeeds in accurately emulating existing sounds as well as producing sounds that have never before been created. With the RT-20, COSM is used to simulate classic rotary characteristics, allowing the virtual horn and bass speaker to be independently adjusted.

Guitars and keyboards alike can be plugged into the RT-20; use the Drive Type switch to optimize the effects for guitar or keyboard. Surround your listeners in animated sound with the RT-20's dual outputs, which enable true stereo effects. Add color by adding an Expression pedal (such as the new BOSS FV-500H/-500L, optional), which lets you control parameters such as rotation speed seamlessly from slow to fast in real time. The RT-20's phone jack is handy for private practice and experimentation.

Thanks to its visual display, the RT-20 might be the most eye-catching pedal in BOSS history. The spinning lights don't just look cool, they also show the audio-rotation characteristics of the RT-20 in real time. The center of the display, illuminated in red light, represents the virtual bass speaker. The outside ring, illuminated in blue, displays the rotation of the virtual horn. Sound: Very impressive, expressive, and tuned for recording and stage. I have not found a keyboard with a Leslie effect at any price that can match the realism this pedal emulates. I no longer lug my Motion Sound around to gigs. You are no longer restricted to miking a rotor to increase volume. Just use a larger amp! No quality loss. Feature: You can read about that elsewhere, but in real world use. Rotation speed, grunge, stereo! It's all there. Works well on organ and electric piano. If you forget your adapter (sold seperately) it runs on battery. Nice touch. Haven't changed batteries in 4 months. Heavy pedal so it won't slide away. Stomp worthy pedals. Ease of Use: It takes a bit of fiddling but each knob returns definite audible changes so very soon you understand which knob does what. Only difficulty is having to reach down to your feet for adjustments. If only there were an extension with the controls that you could place on your keyboard. Quality: Built like a tank. Don't drop it. You'll break the floor. Value: Can't knock the product but it is pricey. Manufacturer Support: Dunno. The Wow Factor: Ummm. It stays below my shoe. The psych light's cool. Overall: Portability, sound quality, reliability, durability. Makes pretty much any keyboard sound like a Hammond. What's that worth to ya?

Sound: i've owned this pedal for over a year now and it's never let me down. the sounds you can get are incredible. there's nothing quite like having a leslie at your feet. next to buying a 122 or a 147 it's the best sounding rotary emulator i've tried or heard. i owned a hammond XK-2 and the leslie sound didn't even start to compare. Feature: everything you need to define your sound is on this pedal, it's got all the knobs for rise time, balance and overdrive. there's even a switch to change the overdrive from guitar or keyboard. awesome. just like any boss pedal, it doesn't come with an adapter. but that's how boss is. Ease of Use: plug and play. sounds great with everything at 12 o'clock. but if you're into customizing your sound, it's incredibly easy to do. everything is right at your fingertips. i keep mine on top of my keyboard and just adjust the sounds as i go. no programmable settings, just knobs. Quality: just like most boss pedals it's built like a tank, like i said, i've had mine for just over a year and nothing has broken and it always sounds like the first time i played it. Value: for what this pedal does, it's worth it. i mean..if you're an organist in jazz, rock, blues, etc you need a leslie or a simulator. this is the kind of pedal you'll have on all the time, every time you play. so when you think of it that way..250 isn't a lot to pay The Wow Factor: for me, i wanted a leslie, but this thing gives you all the tones with out having to buy a truck to cart a cabinet around. that makes it pretty desirable don't you think? Overall: i don't think i'll get another rotary pedal. if this one dies (which it shows no signs of doing) i'd buy another one. obviously, it isn't a 122 or a 147, but for the size and price worth every penny.
