Does your acoustic guitar's piezo pickup sound thin? Enliven it with the Boss AD-8 -- the pedal that models the sound of mics on the guitar's neck and body.

When it comes to digital modeling and effects, electric guitars seem to get all the attention. With six guitar models, mic simulation, and versatile reverb, Boss's AD-8 Acoustic Effect Guitar Modeling Pedal now gives acoustic guitarists a toy of their very own.

The Sound of a Gorgeous Model

As acoustic aficionados know, a guitar's woods and body type make all the difference in its natural sound. Regardless of what your acoustic looks like, the Boss AD-8 can make it sound like some of the world's most renowned models. The six selectable body types include a Martin D-28, a bluesy, vintage Gibson B-25, and even a classical model based on a Jose Ramirez guitar. If your acoustic's pickup sounds thin, you can now supplement it with the rich sound of a miked-up Martin!

Dial In the Natural Sound of Your Guitar

Once you've selected an acoustic model, you can adjust the blend of your guitar's natural sound with the modeled sounds by turning the Body knob. With the knob completely to the left, the modeled sound is turned down with sound from the piezo pickup all the way up. In center position, the modeled sound is at full volume, and turned to the right, you'll get modeled sound mixed with sound from the body.

Fine-Tune Your Tone

Taking tone shaping even further are the AD-8's EQ knobs. Adjusting the bass, treble, mid frequency, and mid gain knobs give you the right sound for any situation. The presence knob helps to manage high frequencies, and a string enhance knob read more brings out harmonic overtones from your strings. You can add any amount of depth to your sound by selecting from the available ambience, studio, and hall reverb effects.

A Pedal That Won't Forget

When you come up with your "dream tone," you can save it by pressing the Write switch to store it as one of the AD-8's four presets. Navigating through the presets is made simple by the up and down selector footswitches.

Live performers can get in tune quickly with the AD-8's onboard chromatic tuner. The output can be muted as you tune, and the bright LED display is easy to read on stage. The anti-feedback feature will help suppress feedback in certain positions.
