Four Playback Styles for Every Scenario

What makes the Boomerang III such a flexible looper pedal is its four different playback styles: Serial, Serial Master, Sync, and Free. Serial lets you create individual sections for a song on each of the 4 loop banks (within each loop, you can stack your performances infinitely to create a full section of rhythm, lead, and anything else you want) and then play them back in any order, switching between them by stepping on the button for each bank. It lets you make a verse, chorus, and bridge, and then order them however you want live. Serial Master works the same way, but it allows you to set one loop bank as the master around which all the others play, ideal for creating a rhythm track to play under all of your sections.

The options and effects built in to the Boomerang III are catered to the player, giving you the kinds of versatility that you need in a looper. No longer will you have to scrap an entire stacked loop because you made a mistake in one of your overdubs; the Boomerang III allows you to undo or redo on your entire loop, or on the last part of your stacked loop. You can play back a loop at half-speed or an octave lower to create bass parts on the go, or just to slow down a section of a complex riff to practice it and get it right. Reverse will let you play an entire loop backwards, while reverse solo lets you create play something backwards in real-time and on the fly. The "Once" function enables you to play a sample a single time -- or keep hitting it to create DJ-like scratch effects.

Boomerang 3 Phrase Sampler Looper Pedal

The Boomerang III Loop Station provides the same serial play style as the Boomerang+, where loops play-out one after another, but also adds Serial Master Play Style where you can sync a master loop (whichever loop is recorded first becomes the master) to play simultaneously with another loops in the series. The Boomerang III can create rhythmic backgrounds behind the melodic loops to create a deep sounding ambience especially for solo players.

Boomerang is offering an upgrade to Boomerang III owners after Version 2's planned release in June 2010. Here's what you'll get with the FREE Version 2 upgrade:

Features

Other features include Thru Mute Function that turns off through signal, Expression Pedal Volume Control where you can connect an optional expression pedal and it will be the master playback volume control, Loop Playback Volume Knob to adjust the loop playback volume, Decay Rate Knob for setting the rate at which earlier parts fade when they are added and Stereo or Mono recording and playback depending completely on which of the Smart Jacks you use. Smart Jacks sense which jacks are being used and provides different signal routing options.

Loop options include Once where a loop plays one time through then stops or if already playing, it stops at its end. Fade allows loops fade in or out with one button press; fades can be 3 to 43 seconds. Reverse Solo is an effect that enables you to create reverse leads live.

I recommend this pedal to anyway that wants a live looping tool.
Sound
The sound quality is much better than any of the other phrase loopers out there right now. I liked the jam man and the boss loopers, but I really think for live situations the sound of the boomerang is top notch. The only issue is setting the volume of the loop, which is controlled by a knob for each loop channel.
Features
The extra features are many and fantastic. I love the different loop modes but find myself using the verse/chorus/bridge mode more than the master loop. Reverse is way cool and much more useful than the reverse on the memory man w/ hazarai.
Ease of Use
Absolutely the easiest loop pedal to use period. The buttons are much different than the others and are extremely sensitive. You can use it right out of the box and have no trouble whatsoever. My band was able to play to looped 2nd and 3rd guitar parts no problem first rehearsal. It can que up loops as well which really lowers the amount of concentration and tap dancing needed. You can que the next part of the song as soon as one starts and then go back to concentrating on your music instead of your pedalboard.
Quality
Heavy duty and awesome. I love Boomerang's products and see this pedal lasting a long time.
Value
Expensive, maybe. Worth it, definitely. Trust me, it is not worth the hassle that comes with cheaper loops pedals.
The Wow Factor
It is big and gorgeous. It is a dark gray wedge with lots of lights.
