What Our Customers Are Saying About zZounds
"I "discovered" zZounds about 2 years ago & was curious about their "Play as you Pay" installment plan. I am a musician so, I am sometimes strapped for cash. Without this plan I would have never been able to get the gear I need!" - customer on May 8th, 2012
Sound:
I have this amp for about a month now and the sound is great. I play alot of different styles of music and this amp can crank out some awesome sound. I havent even got to use it to the full volume capacity yet. I've had it up to 7-8 and its LOUD. this amp offers a variety of sound effects which is sweet. cant go wrong with this amp & price.
Feature:
This amp best feature is the 99 effects built in. There are so many to choose from and they all sound great! the foot pedal is also a great touch to switch from channels. It does have a slight delay in the foot pedal as mentioned by some other reviewers. You're not gonna need any effect pedals with this amp.
Quality:
The quality if awesome! This is my first "new" amp Ive bought and it looks sweet. The style of it the way it looks the size all are very good. I wasnt expecting anything better than this amp. and for $199 I surfed the net for a month trying to find the perfect amp for my budget and there was nothing compariable to this amp.
Value:
like i said i searched the net for a month and found nothing compariable to everything this amp offers!
Manufacturer Support:
Have had no probs with it yet.
The Wow Factor:
This amp has awesome look, great effects, loud sound.
Overall:
I havent played any gigs yet with this amp, But from playing it in my house I no it defintly has the potential too. If you have a budget of $200-$300 I would go with this amp! Theres no way you could be disappointed with it. I can tell by the quality of this amp I will have it for many years to come.

"Great price, great value, great amp! Trying it out is a must, though."
Sound:
My old amp bought the farm about a year ago, and I didn't have the cash to buy a thousand dollar amp, I went looking for a good deal and found this amp, and let me say that with a little work, you can get this amp to sound pretty good. I have owned this amp for little over a year now and with a little bit of practice you can dial in what you need. I play a lot of rock and blues and use a gibson les paul with this amp, and they sound pretty good together. For the most part I stick with the lead channel, with the low on 5-7, mid on 5-6 and the high on 9-10 or else it tends to have a lower sound. It sounds great for that blues/rock sound for songs by zz top and such, but doesn't really have the crunch of maybe the stuff slash plays. As for the clean channel I cannot quite put my finger on it but it seems to be lacking somewhere, it is as though it is either too sharp or too muddy and it is hard to find that happy medium in there, and trying to switch in between the clean channel and lead channel in a song is almsot impossible as either the lead channel will have to be insanely loud or the clean channel almost inaudible. That does not matter too me too much because I do not need it really. Overall it has a very good blues or rock sound.
Feature:
It came with a free footswitch for the channel and effects which is great and is the only amp i have bought that came with a free footswitch. Although, you have to time yourself to press the pedal a split second before it is actually called for as there is a short delay, as with many amps.
Ease of Use:
This is more or less a complicated amp. there are many things to choose from for both channels, you have the standard equalizer with gain/drive, then you have three output settings which is basically how much volume and gain you want, then you have three amp emulation settings, british amp, flat, or american something like that, then three style settings i guess, with a setting for blues sounds which is great and i love, one that is good for rock, and one labelled california which is really mellow and i don't usually use.
This amp has 99 effects settings, but it is more like 30 actual effects, and then about three or four different versions of that one effect maybe slightly mixed with another effect. you can save an effect for each channel of course, and you can change the intensity of an effect with a knob. This is where reading the manual comes in handy. It is not super complicated or anything it will take you two minutes to read, but it has a list of all the effects and their number so you can more quickly find the ones you are looking for. It is cool that they have all these effects and everything but a lot of time their use is very limited, there are many effects i doubt I will ever use, and the effects have very little flexibility, which is kind of frustrating when you need to be able to adjust something specifically, for example you cannot change the speed on things like auto-wah or delay or echo and so on, but you might be able to find one of the several auto-wah variants that is set to a suitable speed. A big thing to consider is that if these effects will suit your needs then good, because this amp is not so good with effect pedals and they will suck the tone right out. There is a "right" way to do it where you have to plug both ends of the pedals into the back of the amp which is a little impractical and still doesn not work too well. This may sound like a deal breaker but you still must remember, there is still 99 options for you too choose from and from several people I know who own this amp, it is mostly all they need. If you are an intermediate player it may seem a little limited, but for the most part it is great.
Quality:
This amp is built very tough and I have knocked it around quite a bit. I have heard of the knobs breaking off and in fact one of my friends has the same amp with that problem. It hasn't happened to me but I figure just use some common sense and watch the knobs when you walk through a door with it. I have also heard of the computer dying or something. People claim that it is because they left it plugged in all the time when not using it. I do that and I have not experienced this, and neither have other people I know who have it, which leads me to assume it may just be from a little rough handling possibly or maybe power surging. As far is I know, this thing is made in Germany, enough said.
Value:
Overall, this is one of the best deals i think you can get for an amp this price, just like all behringer products it is big bang for your buck. I know I have spent a lot of time telling you the limitations, but like I said at the beginning with a little practice and two minutes with a manual you will get it in no time, and you can get some great sounds out of it!
Manufacturer Support:
Never had to deal with them.
The Wow Factor:
It is a generic black tolex combo amp with no particularly outstanding visual features, but it does sound pretty good!
Overall:
Don't get me wrong, I do love this amp, but just saving $50 extra you can buy the v-ampire which is just a little more expensive but has tons more features to mess around with, a lot more effects and amp emulations to choose from, and has digital knobs so that when you record your settings it remembers everything from volume and all your gain and equalizer settings, and doesn't just change what effect you had, it goes back to everything EXACTLY. Instead of numbers on the dial, there is a circle of bulbs around the knobs, and where the light is shows your setting on that knob. You can save a gajillion settings and it comes with a slightly more sophisticated pedal. It may seem complex but the controls are much more intuitive and easier to use in fact than this one. So save just a little more dough and take a quantum leap into the v-ampire, but if not this amp is still an amazingly priced amp from beginners to intermediate.
