The DX-1000 is one of the coolest mixers I have used so far. Extremely versatile, sounds great, built like a tank, and priced so anyone could afford it. Its 100mm faders at first seem a bit gratuitous for DJs (most of us just push them all the way to 100% anyway! :) ) but the added precision and control they contribute becomes something I wonder how I lived without on previous mixers. The auto talk-over function is cool-it automatically lowers the music volume when you talk into the microphone, then brings it back up when you finish. This works very well, is not at all hard to set, and doesn't automatically trigger if music leaks into the microphone (which of course it inevitably will!). Crossfader feels smooth and great. TIP: Another neat undocumented feature is the ability to relocate the entire real panel with all the connections to the bottom of the mixer for use in tight cases where rear space may not allow for connections.
Add to it its built in crossover and output designed to hook to lighting control packs, this mixer is a surefire winner. Probably the best mixer in its class!

I've had mine for about a week and this is a wonderful mixer! The DX1000 has the best features for it's price than any other DJ mixer I've seen. There is one problem though -- it is TOO DAMN BIG!. I should have looked at the dimensions before buying because I realize now that I don't have enough space for it. I'll probably end up returning it just because of its size. That's too bad, because it certainly has impressive features.
For those who are comparing features, the things I like about the DX1000 are:
* 5 stereo channels (switchable between 2 diff stereo sources). Compare that to 4 stereo channels that the other "full-blown" dj mixers have.
* 2 mic (mono) channels
* Gain, 3-band EQ on each channel
* Kill switch on each stereo channel
* Low-pass out (built-in cross-over)
* Tape ins/outs (can also be used as FX send/return I believe)
* Ability to control external gear (lights, etc.)
* Boost, cut switches on main outputs
* Multiple outs (mains, zone/booth)
* Great construction quality. Like all Behringer mixers, this is built like a tank.
Things that this mixer does not have that some other "high-end" DJ mixers offer:
* No BPM counter
* No sampler
* No cross-fader contour (slope) control
* No internal power supply (it uses a "wall wart")
One last thing to consider is sound quality. The DX1000 mixer has professional audio specs. It is very quiet and can be used for some recording applications. For example, on the stereo line/cd channels:
* S/N ratio 106 dB (compared to some other DJ mixers at 80 dB)
* THD .003 % (compared to some other DJ mixers at .02 %)
Overall, this is the best mixer in it's category hands-down. It is great for recording or studio mixing work in addition to DJ'ing. The down-side is that its size limits its usefullness for mobile DJ's or those who have limited space (this is definitely NOT intended for mobile jocks ... it should be considered a console for studio or fixed installation use). If you have the space, I definitely recommend it!
