Manufacturer's Description for Audix D4 Low Frequency Instrument Microphone

The Audix D4 will give you music a propulsive kick in the low end. The D4 utilizes an entirely new capsule specially designed to capture high SPL instruments with extended frequencies below 100 Hz. By using a sub-impulse technology that samples sounds at a rate higher than other mics, the D4 captures a truer image of the original sound than previous generation kick drum mics - this mic is flat down to 63 Hz, with a slight bump in response at 80 Hz, and a gentle roll off below 40 Hz. From 80 Hz up to 1k, the D4 is extremely linear. The D4 comes with a carry pouch and a mic clip. zZounds is an authorized dealer of Audix products.

Sound: The D4 works well for a kick mic for our band .....I had read other reviews where others say it work well on a floor tom or bass cab ....I have not tried it in that manner yet .....I'm sure it will...as far as the kick ....it works great .....we get a good solid low end sound ...and we still get the sought after tick that you listen for in a good kick drum . Feature: N/A Ease of Use: N/A Quality: very well made ....solid !! Value: There were other kick mics to choose from in this price range .....I'm happy with the D4 Manufacturer Support: N/A The Wow Factor: its a good looking mic ......it is a little smaller than other kick mics out there .....but it works well for Our Band Overall: Should keep me happy for years to come .

"Amazing multi-purpose mike!"
Sound: Big, fat and punchy toms of all sizes. Amazing on guitar and bass cabs. Good on any kind of percussions and it can even do a kick drum without any problem. I only got 2 of them in the venue I work and I never know where to put them: it sounds good on everything! Feature: The mike is quite straight. No switches or anything but a rugged construction made for the most demanding tours and venues. Ease of Use: Plug it in, aim and turn up the gain. Done. Quality: The only thing that is not that good is the drum mount that comes with the mike. It's kind of cheap, unstable and easily broken. Value: Totally worth it! Studio, live, name it! Manufacturer Support: Never used... The Wow Factor: The body is not that sexy, but you can have a crush for a voice... no? Overall: The mikes I have in the venue I work for were there before me, and I think they will still be there when I'm gone!
