The DT330 is ready to rumble with its high/low impedance inputs, 3-band EQ, low/mid shift switches, and a vintage VU meter, all in a vintage-style chassis.

First heard in the 427 Small Block, Ashdown's Dual Tube bass preamp was an instant hit, thanks to its solid, articulate bottom end and sparkling highs. The 330W Ashdown Dual Tube Series 330 head takes this stunning tube preamp design and partners it with an uprated and tour proven MAG power stage.

The discerning bass player gets high and low gain inputs, front panel-mounted FX send and return, rotary bass, middle and treble controls with mid shift, bass shift and bright switching, mute switch, rotary gain and master volume controls and a DI output.

I love Ashdown bass gear. I've had their MAG series combos and heads as well as some of the ABM line. From the specs, this seemed like a great upgrade from the MAG 300 head with the tube preamp. I'm still not 100% sure if something was just wrong with mine, but I could not dial in a good sound. The tubes start to break up way to quickly so it was impossible to get a clean sound out of it. One of the things I loved about Ashdown was that I could dial in a clean sound for my upright bass and a good overdriven sound on my electric. So, after working with this head for a couple of weeks to find a good sound, I just couldn't. I returned it and the search has started over again. It also seemed grossly underpowered. I am running a 4 ohm Fender 410 cabinet, so I should have been drawing the max power out of it. It wasn't much louder than my combo amp that I use for small gigs and has half the rated power. I'll probably try Ashdown again at some point, but it will no longer be their China produced lines that are based on the MAG platform.
