Overall: The majority of reviews I read before buying this kept comparing this to Maschine. They are 2 different beasts. Having owned the Maschine and now Spark, Spark is exactly what I wanted. Maschine is more of a workstation where as the Spark is quite simply a drum machine. I love the sequencer and the ability to plug any drum sample (included with the software or your own) onto the pad and start playing away. This has a very fast learning curve and I was up and programming beats in no time. If you want something to sequence drums and don't want to pay over $1000 for a Jomox, Machinedrum or the like this is a great product!

Sound: Not bad, and definetly not the best Feature: It will NOT record midi when used as a VST, I am able to record all of my VSTs as midi in Cubase but not with Spark, why it will not do this, it is beyond me!!, in order to record audio, it must be routed withing the software or if you have an audio card going into an external recording device. Ease of Use: Software is buggy, trying to figue how to route audio into the Cubase and Live has proven to be a pain, works, but not as advertised. again, it will NOT record midi, unless there is some update for the software, it is useless as a midi VST pluggin, if there is someone out there that knows how to record midi from this into Cubase 5, I welcome the info. Quality: Pads feel good, but sequencer buttons arrived popped out, I had to push them into position, they dont have the same height. works BUT ... Value: I wished I had the option to return it. Manufacturer Support: Dont know yet, I wish I dont have to find out. The Wow Factor: Do not want it. Overall: Make sure you visit the Spark community forum, then you will see the many problems people are having. Zzounds will not accept returns on this, I would be willing to pay to return it.
