I bought this unit as an upgrade from an older discontinued model from another brand. It was an entry level interface. My goal for this was to improve sound quality. I was expecting a slight change maybe not even that much better but just different. I can honestly say the sound quality improvement is far more than I expected. I’m just a home hobby player so I have no real studio experience, so take this review for what it is worth. I will say that this interface seems to be designed specifically for the home player or person that needs one maybe two inputs. It does have the ADAT connection so I believe that adding inputs in the future is possible if that ever becomes an issue. As far as the no controls, (which I assume is the major drawback for people on the element series) it’s a non issue. The app works great on my Mac and iOS devices. Also you can control the volume on the keyboard. I actually prefer this set up personally. I really can’t say enough about the sound quality improvement. I plugged it up and played an older recording and it was immediately apparent how much improvement this made. As for support I have not had this long enough to truly review, but I can say that Apogee’s video instructions on the website are very helpful. The installation process was simple and they addressed common road blocks up front on the video. I did have some trouble getting audio out at first but there was a quick, very simple to follow video readily available that fixed my issue. read more I guess time will tell if this thing lasts but my first impressions are that it is high quality and they nailed the sound on this one.
