Ampeg SVT-4PRO Bass Amplifier Head (1200 Watts)

With dual 490-watt power amps, an internal crossover for pushing multiple cabs, and a built-in compressor, this SVT is the only bass head you'll ever need.

Honestly, the Ampeg SVT-4PRO Bass Amplifier is probably the last bass head you'll ever need. If you're a gear freak, by all means feel free to buy a few more -- but this Ampeg really does deliver some of the greatest power, tone, and flexibility you can get.

Impressive Tube Complement

The Ampeg SVT-4PRO wants to impress you. So it starts with 3 x 12AX7 tubes in the preamp to generate a rich and powerful tone right from the get-go. Then, your sound grows in amplitude through the power of the MOSFET amplifier inside.

Tuner Output, and Other Thoughtful Details

The input section offers a single 1/4-inch input with a Tuner Output right beside it for quick and handy tuning on-the-fly. There is also a handy Mute switch right on the front, so you can change instruments without subjecting everyone's ears to the ol' pop and hum.

Astonishing EQ and Tone Control

Ampeg has outfitted this bad boy with a Control section, a remarkable 9-band graphic EQ for fine-tuning your tone. An additional 3-band frequency adjustment has a separate 5-position frequency target knob for the Midrange, giving you 5 times as much control over this critical dimension of your sound! There are also Gain and Compression knobs, and a Control for the Crossover point -- so you can put the SVT-4PRO's dual power amps to work, sending high and low frequency ranges to two separate cabs.

Enough I/O to Make Your Head Spin

The SVT-4PRO's rear panel offers one of the most sophisticated I/O sections on read more any bass amp available today. It starts with 3 x 1/4-inch input FX Loop, allowing you to run your loop in Stereo or Mono modes. There is a second Tuner Out on the rear. The Transformer Balanced Line Out section has both dedicated XLR and 1/4-inch outputs for Stereo or Mono use, along with a switch to bypass the onboard EQ when you want.

The SVT-4PRO's Speaker Output section includes 2 x Neutrik SpeakOn locking connectors for excellent conductivity. There is also a Mono Bridge Bi-Amp output, along with 4 x 1/4-inch outputs running at a 4 ohm optimal impedance. Power amps A and B, delivering 490 watts apiece, each have independent 1/4-inch inputs and outputs. When's the last time you saw such ridiculously comprehensive I/O on a bass amp?

Excellent Construction Throughout

On top of it all, the Ampeg SVT-4PRO is built for serious endurance. It incorporates super-high-quality components, including quiet variable-speed fans to keep it running cool. The front panels are cut from 1/8-inch thick aluminum, to look cool and withstand use and abuse -- whether you're using your SVT-4PRO a rack or as a standalone unit.

"Why would you use anything else?"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

If this keeps performing a well as it has I don't see a need to look into anything else other than add another SVT IV Pro for the Festival and stadium stages. I and everyone else love this amp, the compliments are endless.
Sound
This amp has TONES of TONE!! I've had mine for four years now and play usually two shows a weekend sometimes four. No Joke. It still has so much volume, and I'm not referring to loudness which is without question loud! I'm referring to the expanse of the concussion and reverberation of the bass. I always say I don't play this bass, I feel it! On a normal basis I use the PR410HLF cab but when I really need to kickstart the earth's core and make everyones amps almost fall over I'll pair it with the SVT-410HE - Forget about it!
Features
I love being able to control my mainline out and stage volume seperately, EQ works great, Compression, I keep low bout 1/4. Brightness really does just that.
Ease of Use
It's all right there. Not complicated or full of gadgets. It's a Bass amp, ya just gotta find your tone. All I've added was a KORG Tuner and the BBE. Set it and forget it.
Quality
It's a MAC Truck, has taken disturbing drops in the rack but never a glitch.
Value
Not cheap but ya get what ya play for.
Manufacturer Support
? Support for what ? Happy customer from the first day I rattled the house.
The Wow Factor
Great looking in the rack.
