The all-new Alvarez MGA66ESHB is made from a hand selected, solid African mahogany top, and solid, fully-cured African mahogany back and sides. Each component is made of natural material, including real bone saddles and nuts, Acacia Koa binding, Paua Abalone purflings, ebony bridge pins and green abalone inlays.

Masterworks guitars feature a one-piece mahogany neck with a 50/50 finish, premium tuners with ebony buttons, and 12th Fret abalone inlay. The Masterworks bracing system is forward shifted with scalloped, hand finished X braces that allow these guitars to project incredibly well. There's lots of sustain and dynamic response. Either strummed or picked, the separation and balance across the strings is unprecedented in this price range. The SYS650 preamp with built-in tuner accurately captures all of the raw power and detailed tonal textures of these incredible instruments.

Beautifully voiced, professional guitars made from all-solid, seasoned tone woods. All solid wood really does make a difference, and Alvarez made sure each Masterworks gets the best out their solid wood construction. They are very open sounding, powerful instruments with rounded notes and plenty of bass.

This is a really nice guitar, with one issue. I have recently purchased 3 Alvarez guitars, including this model, and found that the bone nut on all three were improperly cut causing the 1st (high E) string to be too close to the edge of the fretboard. The result was the 1st string would slip off the fret/fretboard when played. I had a luthier check it out, and he determined that the nut was indeed improperly cut... On all three guitars! I contacted Alvarez, informing them of the manufacturing defect, and they were kind enough to send me 3 uncut nuts at no charge. However, when I asked if they would pay for a qualified luthier installation (an cut) they said that to repair the guitars I would have to ship them back to the Alvarez factory. I felt this was a huge inconvenience for a customer who just spent over $850 for a flagship guitar. It is an obvious defect caused directly by poor quality control at the factory... on 3 guitars, all different Alvarez models. Other than that, it's a fine guitar, but you should be aware of this issue with ALL new Alvarez guitars.
