Akai MPD226 Drum Pad Controller

More than just a MIDI USB pad controller, the MPD226 gives you 16 backlit "Thick Fat" MPC drum pads, plus knobs, faders, and transport buttons for your DAW.

The Akai MPD226 is a MIDI-over-USB pad controller perfect for producers, programmers, musicians and DJs alike. Its intuitive blend of MPC controls and technologies mesh with easy USB connectivity to bring the feel of classic beat making into the world of computer music production.

Experience the Difference

First, Akai stepped up their game by adding ultra-sensitive Thick Fat MPC pads, creating an amazingly responsive user experience. The MPD226 has an expanded control set featuring four knobs, four faders, four buttons arranged in three banks for 36 total controls versus 12 on the MPD26. Where do you start? How about Akai giving away MPC Beats for free? Why is that important? Well because Akai is such a great company, and their software works with any hardware, I looked and asked myself what am I missing? The thick fat juicy pads that comes with MPD226, the note repeat, the midi, the faders, the infinite knobs.I used to own the Studio One Black a couple of years ago, and I guess I just plainly forgot how great the pads are, and how conviently they have plenty of presets for some DAWS, and if your DAW isn't listed, not to worry because you can choose from 6 generic presets.I'm not bragging, but I was so inspired when I received it last week, that I made 3 complete songs within a week. You can customize this pad controller so much, that you can find yourself reaching for this pad controller, versus reaching for your mouse in a lot of cases. This is definitely a keeper, even though it came out a few years ago.I did not buy this product from zZounds, because they didn't have it in stock. However zZounds has the best customer service and I am a dedicated shopper there.
