Round Out Your Rig

What's missing from your rig?

You recently got your hands on some new gear, but now you need the right accessories for your rig to be complete. Whether you're getting ready to take the stage, or building your own home studio, we've got all the extras you need. Is something missing from your rig? Check out our favorite finishing touches for guitar, keyboard, drums, DJ, and studio setups.
Guitar Essentials and Extras
Your new guitar is definitely going to need an amp to go with it. Check out the Fender Mustang III V.2 for an amazing deal on a powerful combo amp. Next, add a super-simple looper to your pedalboard with the TC Electronic Ditto pedal. Oh, and don't forget about a guitar cable! And what guitarist can't use more picks? We recommend grabbing a few packs of Dunlop Tortex Standards.
Keyboardist Must-Haves
Got a new keyboard? Make sure you get a sustain pedal to go with it. A lot of new keyboard owners don't recognize the importance of a DI box for playing live, and the Radial Pro D2 is a stereo direct box that's well-suited for keyboard instruments. If you plan on practicing at home, you're going to want a solid pair of headphones. If you want to jam with your friends, make sure to get a keyboard amp like the Peavey KB2.
Recording Studio Add-Ons
Every recording studio is going to need a solid pair of headphones (or two, or three, or four...) If you're stocking up on headphones, you can't go wrong with Shure SRH440s. Adding a versatile standalone preamp like the Heritage Audio HA73EQ will upgrade your signal path for recording mics or direct guitars, and every burgeoning producer needs a reliable pair of monitors like the KRK Kreate 5s. If field recording is more your style, take the portable Zoom H5 to the streets, and open up a world of recording possibilities.
DJ Rig Accessories
For modern DJs, it's all about control. If you've got a laptop-based system, adding a control surface like the Korg nanoKONTROL2 is a great way to take full advantage of your software. A simple laptop stand is an easy way to keep your workspace organized. Taking your DJ rig on the road? The industry-standard SM58 microphone is a must. Add a pair of affordable powered speakers like the Mackie Thumps and bring the party with you.
Drum Set Finishing Touches
Once you've got the shells, stands, and cymbals picked out, you're still going to need a few more pieces to get the best out of your drum setup. We recommend adding a convenient stick holder to your hi-hat stand, so if anything happens to your sticks, you can grab a new pair and keep playing. Play with a variety of sounds when you use brushes instead of sticks. A double kick pedal is a must-have for metal and other hard rock drummers, and an all new set of drum hardware will help you finish off your set.
