FM synthesis has played a huge role in music culture over the last few decades. The FM8 picks up where its award-winning predecessor, the FM7, left off taking FM synthesis even further. FM8's emphasis on ease-of-use brings a high degree of simplicity to the otherwise intricate process of FM synthesis. The powerful new audio engine delivers unsurpassed quality, generating a livelier, more energetic sound than ever before. Learn More...

The best FM synth there is.

Feature:
it's insane. no other FM synth can hold a candle to it. 8 operators routable in any imaginable way? come on!
Quality:
totally stable. never crashes. very low CPU! i can run about 10 of these at once on my G4 powerbook 1.5 ghz
Value:
for what you can do it's actually a very good value.
Desirability:
awesome possibilities with this thing. it's been around for awhile, but that means it is rock solid!
Sound:
you can get some seriously wicked sounds out of this if you know how to program in FM. definitely a "digital" sounding synth though.
Ease of Use:
well, it's like alien technology at first. seems really complex. but you get into it and realize it's actually pretty easy.
Support:
never needed it.
Overall:
NI's most practical and efficient, yet feature-rich soft synth
