"If you need and are into solid amplification read this one!"

Feature:
Came w/ the 'a' slant cabinet. The master vol control is the most useful feature...ohms switch doesn't get used much. No other features missing on this head. There are other Marshall heads out there w/ the other goodies packed in if you want and need it. If you like solid amplification and marshall sound this head's for you!

Quality:
While I am very careful and respect all of my gear this amp has been moved a great deal. It has taken a pounding and has been driven at 10 more often than not. It has stress cracks on the top plastic vent grill and on the handle lugs. Other than normal servicing tubes, etc,..it has been very dependable. I bought it new in '82 and other than the plastic cracking I would say this amp has held up very well and you could not guess it's age by looking at it, goes for the cabinet also. Absolutely no show of wear, breakage on this piece!

Value:
yes

Desirability:
Hey, it's been the most televised amp in history, been on more stages across the world and I have only heard an amp called out by a chick, by name and it was a marshall! I never was big on the white or red head's (marshall heads that is) but the blackish grey finish is right in there. I think the big white marshall logo has always been an eye catcher!

Sound:
I have owned a 2203 for years matched to an 'A' Marshall cabinet. You have total control over the low and top end ranges of tones. Sound is consistent no matter what volume you are at. I have found this amp's sound to flexible and performs whether you are playing hard rock, blues or whatever and accommodates wide ranges of different playing styles, definately fit's mine. If you are into simple but yet solid amplification w/out all of the gadgets crammed in a head this one's for you! I drive a cry baby wha pedal, lexicon digital delay and mxr EQ through it in certain circumstances and haven't ever needed anything else. I used it mostly live and have spiked it through a tascam 424mkII home studio w/ good results. I wouldn't change it!

Support:
Never had to deal w/ the factory or service folks.... have never had too! only m/a servicing done through local music shop. I rate a 10 because of my experience w/ the gear and would bet that the service would be on same level..

Overall:
i'm keeping this one...would like to have another...i do have a '61 fender deluxe (it came w/ a '61 jazzmaster)...if this one burns out i would grab a 2203 reissue in a heart beat. I did buy it new as it fit the music that I was playing, it did and continues to meet my needs and goals. I read up and had used a 2203 before i bought one so i was up on it. the plastic cracking is what i least like about it!

"If you want pure tube Marshall sound, get this amp."

Feature:
Simple.

Quality:
Used on the road for ten+ years, but keep a matched set of tubes handy, all tubes have a lifespan.

Value:
Bang for the buck. $1600-2000 seems like a ton of money (seeing as though I bought mine used for $200 in 1989) but if I needed to replace I'd pull a fast one to get the loot.

Sound:
This amp was the sound of the time, and for my taste the sound for all time. I've plugged everything from Fender Mustangs, Les Pauls, Teles, to my Harmony Patrician with a Mod 200 DeArmond into mine and I get tone, volume and chunk out of every one. If you play seriously you need to drop the dough on one.

Support:
Didn't need it.

About This Product!
Description
Docs
The all-valve JCM800 2203 is one of the most highly respected 100-watt Marshall heads in the company's long history. Evolving from the legendary 100 Watt Plexi head, it was also their first amplifier to feature a Master Volume (MV) control. The very essence of simplicity, the JCM800 2203 is a 1-channel, all-valve amp with no reverb or built-in effects. Its foolproof interface, distinctive roar and larger-than-life edge immediately set the standard by which all other rock amps were judged and it remained the industry benchmark throughout the entire 16 years of its production life. Now it's back by popular demand and they've taken this opportunity to give it a Series Effects Loop that features a true Bypass switch that takes the loop completely out of the circuit, thus ensuring the original tone isn't compromised in any shape or form.
