"Great sound and value, but wish it has a FET pre-amp built in"

Feature:
Built-in quartz pickup, connects to amp directly. No pre-amp inside the guitar means it does not require a battery. But the drawback is you need to use a high-impedence amp or DI box, otherwise it will sound too sharp and has to be EQ'ed. Most guitar amps proably won't need a lot of EQ, but an amp with FET input would be more desirable.

"Great for any level."

I have always wanted an Ovation but could never afford one. Had I known that an Applause plays and sounds the way it does it would not have taken me as long to have own one. It is a great sounding guitar and the action is incredible. The feel of the neck is remarkable. The only problem is the round back and trying to relax and play is difficult.

Ovation applied 30-odd years of guitarmaking innovation to design an affordable guitar that doesn't sound like an affordable guitar. The Summit Series is proof of that.
