Roland TD20S V-Pro Series Electronic Drum Kit

No longer available at zZounds
8 group faders. 15 individual compressors and EQs. Snare stand, hi-hat stand, bass pedal and drum throne NOT included.

These digital drums are in the acoustic house! You have to play them to appreciate how dynamic and expressive these pads are. Roland even modeled snare buzz and rim/stick sounds for the toms!

Another welcome improvement is all wires are now hidden in the new rugged steel stand with improved metal T-fittings and quick release cam levers on the legs and cymbals for height adjustment and easy transport. The stand is gently ramped down on the sides for improved playability.

Of course the pads are improved - all dual zone, re-designed sensor mechanism and a sleek new look. Don't confuse these with the single mesh imitators that Roland licenses. The amazing new V-Hi-Hat lets you use a regular hi-hat stand to control two ergonomically accurate plastic cymbals that capture every nuance of your playing from half open positions to digging your foot in after you close the hats. These virtual highhats move and play like the real thing!

Of course, the real heart of this drum set resides in the new Roland flagship module - TD-20. Everything has been enhanced. Now you can model beaters on kicks and rivets on cymbals. Dig into the kick drum or let it resonate with light jazz strokes. Play cymbal or snare rolls because the attack varies with your striking velocity; nothing else does this (other than the real thing of course).

Beyond 500 new sounds and improved dynamics, the TD-20 also adds a compact flash slot for new sounds and some very promising updates and enhancements. This new TD has read more the professional's luxury of 10 outputs and digital outs, 15 dual trigger ins and 8 group faders. Of course it has incredible effects, with dynamics and ambience for all drums as well as a slew of studio effects in the virtual control room. A mastering room has been added to add that final sheen to your drum sounds.

The V-Pro series is absolutely the best. It's like a real drum set in chameleon skin. Make it be whatever you need--but play it like real drums.

Bass pedal and drum throne NOT included.

More Powerful V-Editing
The TD-20 gives drummers even greater modeling power using Roland's latest COSM technology. Vastly expanded for unlimited expression, the TD-20's V-Editing starts from careful analysis of an entirely new set of drum sounds. The result captures every nuance of the real thing -- including every moment of drum vibration and complete customization capabilities. For example, drummers can now select from several types of kick beaters including felt, wood and plastic. The cymbal size can also be changed, along with the type of 'sizzle' (i.e. rivets or chain), and the microphone position. The TD-20 even lets drummers add realistic snare drum 'buzz' (the resonance created on the tom and bass drum) that matches the type of snare drum selected. It's the subtle nuances like these that really make the difference during performance and recording.

Enhanced Performance Features
Whether used live or in the studio, the TD-20 offers a host of powerful features designed to make life easy. Eight group faders are provided for adjusting the relative levels of each part (snare, kick, hi-hat, etc.), while 15 individual compressors and EQs let you sculpt each sound to perfection. The TD-20 also includes a 5-part sequencer loaded with preset backing patterns and plenty of room for your own -- plus onboard Ambience effects, a stellar multi-effects processor and more. A new Mastering Room lets you add compression and EQ on the overall sound, while 10 analog outputs and a S/DPIF digital output give drummers plenty of options when mixing live or in the studio.

Convenient CompactFlash Storage and More
New to the TD-20 is a CompactFlash slot, which can be used for storing custom drum kits and sequencer patterns with optional memory cards. An expansion bay located on the underside means there's room for upgrades down the road. The TD-20 also features Roland's V-LINK technology. Using an optional video editor from Edirol, drummers can trigger images or change cameras from the pads or kick.

Sound
Drums sound fantastic. Cymbals and hi-hat excellent. Great variety and possibilities for recording, especialy with onboard mixer and eight seperate outputs from the brain . Anyone slagging this kit has obviously not played one...or they are in the business of selling acoustic kits and are trying to damage the future of this kit.
Features
Being able to practice almost silently wearing headphones means I can practice in my apartment any time of the night or day. For many drummers this is like dying and going to heaven! Acoustic level band rehearsals in the living room are possible with a monitor at a low level, very convenient. On-board practice patterns are usefull.Rim shots on all the drums is great! Dynamic response on drums is great too.
Quality
Sensational sounds. The kit will not replace my acoustic kit for live performances but is fantastic for practice, rehearsal and recording. Could set up kit part TD20, part acoustic (cymbals)for some gigs.
Value
Very expensive. Could have bought a high-end acoustic kit with this much money but nothing else matches this kit in it's niche.
