The new XENYX Mic Preamp matches the sound quality, transparency, headroom and even the dynamic range of boutique-style, stand-alone mic preamps. Neo-classic "British" EQ brings back the warmth and musicality of those '60s and '70s mega-console desks that made music history. The XENYX FX mixers incorporate a new studio-grade 24-bit FX processor. Learn More...

"Buyer Beware."

Feature:
Alot of features. There are alot of options available for a performer or a band. If you are a moile DJ you will use only about 1/4 of them. At least you get your money's worth.

Quality:
Great features and looks. The construction is pretty solid; but after a while the board will start shorting out unexpectedly. This will provoke you to get another one; but before you do get a technician to open it up to see what's wrong. It will cost more if you ship it to Behringer if the warranty if expired.

Value:
The value of this mixer is good for the money. Did not know it was going to give me problems within two years.

Desirability:
I will try and fix my mixer myself since the warranty is expired. I checked other mixers and only behringer makes nice looking ones. Maybe I will get the UB-1832 instead and see how that goes. I would not buy the UB-2442 again because of my experience with it and I do not need one this big for my DJ rack, the 1832 shoule be fine.

Sound:
As a mobile DJ, this UB mixer sounds ok if you do not care about sound. I use it as a monitor to play and record music. I had to buy a sonic maximizer (BBE 882 I) in order to have crystal clear sounding highs, midrange and bass. The parametric equalizer is not all that great; there need to be more clarity added to these features.

Ease of Use:
If you know what you are doing, this mixer is very easy to set up. If on the other hand, you are not as experience, the manual is very helpful. Very straight forward if hooked up correctly.

Support:
I have other Behringer equipment and asked how should I go about hooking them up. All I got was manuals with other options emailed to me. The person was not able to tell me what to do via email. It is a good thing I know about equipment, so I did it myself. I am having problems with the UB mixer. I emailed behringer about a week ago, so far no response.

Overall:
If I cannot fix it, I will purchase the UB-1832 within two months. I will get some type of trade in value for it if I do.

"Good Mixer but expect some bugs eventually"

Feature:
Tons of features however it is not the simplest mixer in the world to use. Lots of routing options 4 aux sends are nice and the effect processor on board, although not the best are handy.

Quality:
Hey lets face it...It's not a super high quality mixer. You do get what you pay for. I have limited funds and this mixer fit the bill for my home studio. I lost channels 4,5 and 7. This was an easy fix however.Inside there is a large ribbon cable that eventually comes free from the main board. When this happens, open up the box carefully and insulate the entire ribbon cable with duct tape on the side that sits up against the main board. This will prevent the ribbon cable from shorting out any channels. A clue for this happening is that you loose the trim from any channel from 4 to 7.Oh and guess what..it's intermittent. Great on Gig night. Thats exactly where the ribbon cable sits under. Bad design. A service tech could do it for you fo 25 bucks.

Value:
Again you get what you pay for.

Sound:
The sound out of the board is pretty much ok however the IMP's lack a huge amount of head room.

Support:
Behringer told me to go to a autherised dealer since my warrenty was up. Thanks for that.

Overall:
I will keep it until it's pooched.... I am not a pro..I bought it for home use, my son is going to be a Sound engineer and I bought it to help teach him about mixers.

Description
Docs
This is the big cajuna of the whole UB Series. You get all the features you'd expect in an ultra high-quality compact mixer: 16 balanced high-headroom line inputs with dedicated gain controls on stereo channels 13-16, 10 new state-of-the-art, studio-grade IMP "Invisible" Mic Preamps, and an effective, extremely musical 3-band EQ with semi-parametric mid band plus switchable low-cut filter on all mono channels. There is also an integrated 24-bit digital stereo FX processor with 99 great-sounding Virtualizer presets.

Because of their extensive and carefully thought-out routing possibilities, these consoles lend themselves equally to both live and studio use. The prime suspects are high-quality recording studios as well as MIDI-studio applications, small-size PA applications (solo entertainers, duos to quartets, small bands), video edits, and similar setups.

Every crucial development stage of the new UB Series has Uli Behringer's name on it - literally: from the design study to the circuitry layout to the mechanical makeup of the consoles. He has personally selected each and every individual component, all with the goal of squeezing the very most out of every single one of them. These consoles have been pushed as far as the technology permits to-date.

Features
Ultra low-noise ULN design, highest possible headroom, ultra-transparent audio

10 new state-of-the-art, studio-grade IMP "Invisible" Mic Preamps with:

Invisible Mic Preamp (IMP)
Five years in the making, the Invisible Mic Preamp (IMP) is a superior mic preamp that delivers crystal-clear audio with incredible reproduction of the slightest nuances. It matches or exceeds the performance of outboard mic preamps. You get extreme bandwidth of 5 Hz to 100 kHz coupled to unusually neutral, noise- and distortion-free circuitry. The Behringer IMP provides ultra-linear frequency response up to 100 kHz. The result of perfect design. Almost unmeasurable distortion for your signal integrity.

24-bit/ 46 kHz
Digital recordings are often done at a depth of 16 bits, which breaks up the dynamic range between the loudest and quietest portions of a signal into 65,536 steps. They use the finer resolution of 24 bits, which divides the signals loudest-to-softest dynamic range into 16,777,216 steps, allowing for far more accurate rendering of the quieter parts of the audio.

Audio signals change constantly, so a digital device must capture these changes as faithfully as possible. The higher the sampling rate, the better. The consoles use a sampling rate of 46,000 times per second. To capture any given frequency, a digital signal's sampling rate must be roughly twice that frequency. The sampling rate of 46 kHz is more than adequate for capturing all signals in the audible range - the human ear cannot hear the sounds whose frequency is higher than 20 kHz.

Ultra Low-Noise (ULN)
ULN stands for the Ultra low-noise design of our circuitry. It is based on extremely low-impedance components that keep thermal inherent noise and crosstalk at an absolute minimum. The result: your console is considerably less noisy and crosstalk between neighboring channels is virtually non-existent. The result of perfect design. Almost unmeasurable distortion for your signal integrity.

Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS)
Every console in the PRO Series uses a state-of-the-art, over-sized, switch-mode power supply with lots of headroom. One of the great advantages is that (compared to conventional circuits) a switch-mode power supply adapts to mains voltages between 100 and 240 volts automatically. Furthermore, due to its much greater efficiency, it consumes much less energy than a conventional supply unit. Even more important is the fact that conventional transformers always induce 50 Hz hum (check it out on other mixers when you turn up all volume controls). Their switch-mode supply operates at very high frequency and therefore keeps the mixer "dead" quiet.

XPQ 3D Surround
The XPQ 3D surround effect available in the UB1832FX-PRO widens the stereo image and adds life and transparency to your sound - an easy way to put a unique final polish on your music and turn your performance into an incomparable experience.
